ELM Construction is a commercial general contractor delivering retail, restaurant, grocery, industrial, and renovation projects across the country. We run lean, communicate directly, and put experienced field leaders in charge of the work.

The Role

You'll run the field on commercial projects nationwide — from mobilization through punch list and closeout. You own the site: the schedule, the subs, the safety culture, and the quality of everything that goes in the ground and on the walls. Project types rotate — a retail TI in one market, a ground-up restaurant in the next — so you'll need range, not just reps. You'll work closely with your Project Manager, but day to day, the job runs because you run it.

What You'll Do

• Run the site. Direct all on-site construction activity, coordinate trades, and sequence the work so the schedule holds without sacrificing quality.
• Manage subcontractors. Hold subs accountable to scope, schedule, and workmanship standards — and build the working relationships that get problems solved before they cost days.
• Own the schedule. Build and maintain look-ahead schedules, flag slippage early, and recover lost time through resequencing, not wishful thinking.
• Lead on safety. Set the safety standard from day one, run toolbox talks, correct hazards immediately, and keep the site clean, organized, and inspection-ready.
• Control quality. Verify work is installed right the first time — plumb, level, square — and catch issues before they become rework or punch list items.
• Document daily in Procore. Daily logs, photos, RFIs, manpower tracking, and progress reporting that keeps the PM and client informed without being asked.
• Represent the company to owners and clients. Walk the site with client reps, answer questions with confidence, and be the professional face of the project.
• Close it out clean. Drive punch lists to zero, coordinate final inspections, and hand over a finished project the client wants to hire us for again.

What You Bring

Required:

• 7+ years as a Commercial Construction Superintendent
• OSHA 30 certification
• Working proficiency with Procore
• Proven field leadership managing subcontractors, schedules, safety, and project documentation
• Direct experience on retail, restaurant/dining, grocery, industrial, or commercial renovation projects
• Full comfort with extended nationwide travel — hotels and Airbnbs, project to project

Preferred:

• Experience with national retail or multi-site rollout programs
• First Aid, forklift, scaffold, and fall protection certifications
• Track record completing full project cycles independently with minimal oversight

The Lifestyle

Let's be straight about this: you'll be on the road. You'll live out of hotels and Airbnbs for the duration of each project, then move to the next assignment — which could be two states over or across the country. There's no "home every night" version of this job.
