ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Principal Engineer – I&C (GIC Tools & Applications) you will work with a team of software developers supporting engineering applications in the Westinghouse Instrumentation & Controls organization. As part of this team, you will collaborate with IT and throughout the I&C organization to gather requirements, implement database solutions, and maintain existing databases.
You will report to the Supervisor GIC Tools & Applications and be located at Warrendale, PA office on a hybrid basis.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance database schemas for I&C design & configuration management systems.
- Collaborate with software developers, data analysts, and IT teams to integrate databases into broader systems and support data-driven applications.
- Document database designs, configurations, and standard operating procedures for future reference and compliance.
- Execute assignments independently within project schedule and budgetary requirements.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of assigned tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in Database Engineering or a similar role.
- Proficiency in Database Administration:
- Knowledge of SQL and with relational databases (MSSQL, Azure, MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL).
- Design and implementation of database structures aligned with user requirements and business needs.
- Development and optimization of SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers.
- Fundamental knowledge of any of the following is a plus:
- Industry standards governing software design, development, and documentation.
- C#, Java, Python programming languages.
- Knowledge of data warehousing, ETL/ELT processes, and CI/CD for databases.
- Familiarity with AI/ML concepts, data pipelines, and model deployment.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a cross-functional team including engineering, testing, and manufacturing.
We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $103,200 to $129,000 per year.
