JOB DESCRIPTION
The Associate Director, Medical Impact will play a crucial role in developing the standards, processes and framework for measuring end-to-end medical impact and care gaps, creating tools for synthesizing care gap insights across Medical Affairs + Health Impact (MHI). This role will serve as a translator between Business Unit Therapeutic Areas (TAs) International TAs, and the Medical Engagement team to identify capabilities that will contribute to long-term success of the MHI organization and ensure that the capabilities that are rolled out are being utilized appropriately by the organization.
An essential focus of this role will be to serve as the leading Medical representative in AbbVie’s LOOP transformation – our AI-enabled customer omnichannel engagement model across Commercial, Patient Services, and Medical – and ensure care gaps and medical impact are appropriately integrated into the LOOP business model.
Position must follow a hybrid schedule of 3 days/week on site at our headquarters in Mettawa, IL.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including BU TAs and International TAs, to understand their needs and requirements to develop care gap and impact capabilities that contribute to the long-term success of the MHI organization.
- Serve as a translator between BU TAs, International TAs, and the Medical Engagement team to ensure effective communication and interpretation of care gap and impact requirements.
- Represent MHI in cross-functional LOOP strategy, design, and implementation discussions, ensuring MHI perspectives are considered and incorporated in key design decisions.
- Implement standardized processes and frameworks for measuring end-to-end medical impact across MHI and for LOOP.
- Scale Medical Engagement Blueprint across TAs.
- Partner with Real World Evidence (RWE) and HEOR teams to operationalize care gap analytics across TAs.
- Identify key sources of insight for MHI, including existing and novel datasets, and develop an approach to analysis.
- Keep a pulse on capabilities rollouts and identify changes to future waves.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to medical impact measurement and insights synthesis.
- Prepare reports and presentations to effectively communicate findings, insights, and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Continuously evaluate and improve the standards, processes, and framework for measuring medical impact and synthesizing insights, ensuring alignment with the evolving needs of MHI.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s or equivalent degree required. Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, MBA) highly preferred.
- At least 6+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry or equivalent with Bachelors or 4+ years experience with Masters and 2+ years with PhD.
- Strong experience with real-world data and current methods of data analysis and machine learning.
- 3-4 years of experience in Medical Affairs highly preferred.
- Demonstrate creative ‘out of the box’ thinking to solve difficult unstructured problems.
- Strong decision making under uncertainty.
- Stakeholder management and leadership skills in matrix organization.
- Strong analytical reasoning abilities, intellectual curiosity, strong business acumen, and creativity in problem solving.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Broad understanding of the pharmaceutical business.
- Ability to effectively present ideas and document complex medical/clinical concepts and processes in both written and oral communication.
- Experience with current methods Analytics/Machine Learning.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position.
