Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as an Agriculture
Confirm your degree meets specialty occupation
Your Australian agriculture degree must align directly with the role title on the job offer. A general science degree won't support an agronomy position, USCIS expects a direct-match field. Three years of a relevant Australian bachelor's counts as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree.
Target employers with active DOL LCA history
Search DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data to identify agricultural employers who have previously filed Labor Condition Applications. Research stations, agribusiness firms, and land-grant universities appear regularly and signal genuine sponsorship infrastructure.
Address the specialty occupation gap in seasonal roles
Many agriculture postings are structured as seasonal or production roles that don't require a degree, which disqualifies them for E-3. When applying, confirm in writing that the role requires at least a bachelor's in a specific field, not just general agricultural experience.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for your LCA
Once you have a job offer, the employer must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before your visa application can proceed. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork so nothing stalls the timeline between offer and consulate appointment.
Prepare a credential equivalency letter early
U.S. consular officers aren't always familiar with Australian agricultural qualifications. Get a formal credential evaluation from a recognized assessment body before your interview, it removes ambiguity and supports your specialty occupation claim on the DS-160.
Time your application around USDA and state agency cycles
Federal and state agricultural agencies post roles on fixed fiscal-year hiring cycles, often in late summer or early spring. Aligning your job search to those windows increases your chance of finding positions with sponsorship infrastructure already in place and a clear start date.

Find Agriculture JobsAgriculture E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find agriculture jobs in the U.S. that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search, you can filter for agriculture roles where employers have E-3 or LCA filing history, so you're not guessing about sponsorship willingness. Beyond that, USDA research stations, land-grant universities, and agribusiness companies with international operations are the most consistent sources of specialty occupation agriculture positions that qualify for E-3 sponsorship.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Do agriculture roles actually qualify as specialty occupations under the E-3?
Some do, but not all. Roles like agronomist, soil scientist, agricultural engineer, or crop researcher typically qualify because they require a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field. Production supervisor or farm operations roles generally don't qualify because they don't require a degree as a standard entry requirement. The key is whether the employer can demonstrate the position normally requires at least a relevant four-year degree.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for agriculture professionals?
The E-3 has a significant practical advantage: there's no lottery. H-1B selection is random and capped at 85,000 per year, meaning even qualified candidates often go unselected. The E-3 has a 10,500 annual allocation reserved exclusively for Australian citizens that has never been filled, so you can apply any time of year once you have a qualifying job offer and a certified LCA from the DOL.
Can I switch agriculture employers after arriving in the U.S. on an E-3?
Yes, but the process starts fresh. Your E-3 status is tied to a specific employer and LCA, so changing jobs requires your new employer to file a new LCA with the DOL and support a new visa application or change of status. You can't simply transfer the visa. Start the paperwork with your new employer before your current status expires to avoid any gap in authorization.
