INTRODUCTION
The farmworkers positions include duties associated with picking of hot peppers, load and unload peppers, harvesting and quality control while harvesting peppers, removal of plastic mulch, irrigation materials, removal stakes/strings, field sanitation, operate equipment, clean working equipment on jobsite one person will be selected as team lead. This work can require standing, walking, stooping, bending and lifting up to 50 lbs for long period of time outside in all weather conditions. It includes making important decisions in the field based on the fruit size, fruit color, and ripeness of fruit in accordance with prescribed standards. Setup harvesting area both AM and PM and clean harvesting tools.
Farmworkers will be given 5 days of training with full hourly rate; at the end of the 5 days they will be assessed and a decision will be made as to the future of the employee on the job. At the end of training each farmworker is expected to harvest 3.62 five-gallon buckets of peppers per hour to be able to continue working with the company.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- The farmworkers are required to adhere to food safety standards, food quality standards, and operating procedures with the ability to work quickly and consistently alongside fellow workers.
- Workers are required to operate with positive, professional and team-based attitudes and with consideration for the safety and health of their fellow workers and of the end user who is the consumer who will purchase and consume produce grown, harvested, packed, and shipped from this farm.
