We are looking for a Field Service Commissioning Technician within a commuting distance of ZIP code 83634.
Role: Field Service Commissioning Technician:
The Field Service Commissioning Technician at Bloom is primarily responsible for traveling to new markets or new installations and preparing systems for the initial startup and guiding the installation through final acceptance testing for customer load connection. In addition, you will use in-depth product and industry knowledge to provide technical expertise to the customer through Fuel cell system maintenance, site maintenance, safety observation and troubleshooting. The Field Service Commissioning Technician must have experience working independently and, in a team in a fast-paced environment. You must have a strong understanding of a broad set of Electrical and Mechanical systems, and can manage internal and external communication.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Electrical experience required; troubleshooting & repair skills necessary
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting/repair skills; understanding of mechanical systems, piping, plumbing and valve operation preferred
- Prior experience as an electrician in any of the following: 3phase systems, UPS (back-up power) systems, maintenance, electrical generation and distribution systems, power electronics, Automatic Transfer Switch Systems, and microprocessor-based control platforms is highly beneficial
- Experience with various test and measurement equipment, electrical codes and personnel safety products and procedures.
- Must be able to read and interpret electrical single line diagrams and blueprints
- Experience with performing equipment maintenance in accordance with ANSI/NETA standard for Electrical Power
- Basic understanding of requirements of working safely
- Identifies and resolves more complex problems and applies problem-solving skills in order to deal with most situations.
- Highly motivated and able to work independently
- Demonstrates sound judgment
- A team player who exhibits a high level of integrity and professionalism in all situations
- Able to communicate effectively in English in both written and or verbal form to facilitate duties as required
- Able to follow procedures and execute sequenced work instructions from either written and or verbal communications
- Ability to lift 45-50lbs
- Able to facilitate 24x7 operations as needed
- Able to facilitate On Call Duty as needed
- Able to travel domestically at least two weeks at a time as much as 70% as needed
Education and Experience:
The following MINIMUM levels of experience and or education are required:
- High school diploma & 9 years’ experience in electrical field
- Or –
- Technical diploma, Journeymen Certification, Electrician Certification in a technical field and relevant industry experience of 5 years (electrician, electronics technician, field service, technician, test engineer, etc.)
- Or –
- 5 years electrical related military experience (e.g. Navy Nuclear Electronics/Electrical Technician, Naval Electrician, Gas Turbine Electrician, Avionics, Aviation Electrician) and 2 years of relevant commercial electrical experience
- Must hold an active driver’s license and a minimum of 5 years driving experience
- Data center or other critical power installation experience is desired
Location: Must be based in one of the various Bloom commercial markets in the US: San Francisco Bay Area; Greater Los Angeles Metro area; Santa Teresa, New Mexico; Cheyenne, WY; Boise, ID; New York City/Long Island/Newark; Vineland, NJ; Pittsburgh/Shippingport, PA
A quantity of Field Service Commissioning Technicians will be hired in existing and emerging Bloom markets. These FSCTs will be committed to PSV and commissioning activities in their home market 100% of their available time or to fulfill 100% of the commissioning needs in their home market. During periods when their home market does not require their contributions to commissioning they will travel (50%+ expected as needed) to support commissioning in other markets. The remainder of their time will be spent supporting regular FST activities in their home market.
