INTRODUCTION
The Digital Scholarship Department supports research, teaching, and learning at Tufts and the Research & Learning division at Tufts University’s Tisch Library seeks an innovative and collaborative colleague to join us as Digital Scholarship Librarian and continue our growth within the context of our strategic framework. We provide access to scholarship in different mediums — from podcasts to information visualizations, to story maps, and beyond. Our staff have expertise in digital projects, media and critical making, data, copyright, and publishing. The Digital Scholarship department is also home to the Digital Design Studio (DDS), a creative space and community of practice for critical approaches to media and making.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under general supervision, provides and assists in development of digital scholarship support and library services and resources to assist constituents in their teaching, learning and research.
- Provides specialized library services including some/all of the following:
- Develops and promotes innovative programs and services that strengthen the library’s role in supporting digital scholarship, digital literacy, digital pedagogy, data resources and multimedia in teaching, research and scholarship.
- Delivers instruction on digital scholarship tools, techniques and methodologies.
- Partners with faculty to integrate multimedia resources and digital literacy into curriculum.
- Provides advanced research consultations and discovery services focused on digital scholarship and data management.
- Selects materials for open access digital library and develops best practices around digital library collections.
- Delivers library liaison and other orientation and outreach programs.
- Conducts assessment of workflows, technologies and services of unit. Develops and recommends strategies and initiatives that improve service.
- May hire, train and supervise student employees and/or library support staff. May conduct performance reviews and assess development opportunities.
- Participates in and leads special projects and initiatives as assigned. Participates in library, school and/or university wide teams and work groups. Shares information with library colleagues and management.
- Expands professional knowledge by contributing to relevant professional networks, including discussion lists, blogs, social media and networking sites, consortia or Tufts publications.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge and experience typically acquired by: Master's Degree
- 2+ years
- Expertise and experience in best practices, current issues and emerging trends in area of specialty
- Experience with library technologies, teaching and instructional design
- Experience building relationships and managing outreach with diverse community of students, faculty and staff
- Strong service orientation and ability to evaluate user needs and recommend improvements to library services. Commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion and equity in higher education
COMPENSATION
- Salary Range: Minimum $65,900.00, Midpoint $82,300.00, Maximum $98,800.00
