Content Producer Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a content producer in Massachusetts?
Most content producers in Massachusetts enter the field with a bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, English, or marketing from one of the state's many universities, including UMass Amherst, Emerson College, or Boston University. Massachusetts does not require a state-issued license for content producers. Building a portfolio of published or produced work, whether through internships, freelance projects, or student media, is the primary credential employers look for when hiring.
How much do content producers make in Massachusetts?
Content producers in Massachusetts earn a median of about $80,970 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $45,820 for the lowest 10% to over $150,140 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire content producers in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring content producers in Massachusetts right now include NBCUniversal, RBC, and CodeRabbit, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Massachusetts's dense concentration of universities, healthcare systems, and technology companies creates consistent year-round demand for content producers across industries.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most content producer jobs?
Boston, Quincy, and Andover have the most content producer openings in Massachusetts. Boston drives the largest share of listings given its concentration of technology firms, major healthcare institutions, and media companies, while Cambridge adds demand from biotech and higher education employers, and Worcester reflects growing regional marketing and healthcare content needs.
Are there remote content producer jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 29% of content producer openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how well the role translates to distributed work. Writing, editing, and digital publishing tasks are the most consistently remote, while roles involving on-site video shoots or live event coverage typically require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a content producer in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an internship or junior content role at a Massachusetts media outlet, university communications office, or in-house marketing team. Large employers like Mass General Brigham, Boston Children's Hospital, and major Boston-area universities regularly post entry-level content coordinator and marketing associate roles. A portfolio of writing samples, social media content, or short-form video work gives candidates a strong edge over those with resumes alone.
