Copywriter Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a copywriter in Massachusetts?
Copywriting has no state-issued license or registration requirement in Massachusetts. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree in English, communications, marketing, or journalism, along with a portfolio of published or project-based writing samples. Boston and Cambridge employers in biotech and healthcare often prioritize candidates who can demonstrate comfort with technical or regulated content, so targeted coursework or certifications in content strategy or UX writing can strengthen an application meaningfully.
How much do copywriters make in Massachusetts?
Copywriters in Massachusetts earn a median of about $85,260 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $58,910 for the lowest 10% to over $138,950 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire copywriters in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring copywriters in Massachusetts right now include NOBULL, NIC+ZOE, and Everquote, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Massachusetts's high concentration of life sciences, insurance, and e-commerce companies means demand for writers who can handle both consumer-facing and technically precise content remains strong year-round.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most copywriter jobs?
Boston, Dedham, and Natick account for the largest share of copywriter openings in Massachusetts. Boston and Cambridge generate the bulk of listings, driven by major employers in biotech, financial services, and higher education concentrated in those metro areas, while Worcester attracts openings tied to healthcare systems and regional insurance carriers headquartered there.
Are there remote copywriter jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 100% of copywriter openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how fully desk-based this work is by nature. Digital marketing, email, and content strategy roles are the most consistently remote, while UX writing positions tied to agile product teams more often require some on-site collaboration.
How can I get hired as a copywriter in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is building a portfolio of spec or freelance samples and applying to coordinator or junior content roles at Boston-area agencies and in-house marketing teams. Large Massachusetts employers like Wayfair and major healthcare systems such as Mass General Brigham occasionally post entry-level content or marketing associate roles that do not require prior copywriting titles. Adjacent roles in social media coordination, editorial assistance, or marketing operations are common lateral moves, and completing a recognized UX writing or content strategy certification can help a resume stand out without prior professional experience.
Where can I find and apply to copywriter jobs in Massachusetts?
You can find and apply to copywriter jobs in Massachusetts on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to the state. Find roles that fit your experience and specialty, then apply directly to the ones that match.
