About this job:
The Deaf and Hard of Hearing (D/HH) Itinerant Special Education Paraprofessional collaborates and works with staff and students in a variety of settings (home, community) to meet the needs of students with special needs, impairments, and disabilities. There are two openings - One at East HS, one at Hill Campus of Arts & Sciences.

- Salary Range: New hires will be set at $22.824 per hour. The salary range for internal candidates is $22.824 to $27.275 per hour. For detailed compensation information, view the Para Salary Schedule. The salary listed reflects the 2025–2026 school year. Salaries for the 2026–2027 school year are typically finalized and released mid-summer, with an effective date of August 1. If any updates or adjustments are made once the new salary schedule is finalized, all impacted individuals will receive the updated salary.

What You'll Do:
- May provide medically invasive (e.g. tube feeding, catheterization, suctioning) and daily living (e.g. toileting, diapering, feeding, personal hygiene) activities following universal precautions and as trained and directed.
- Facilitates and supports transitions, accommodations and modifications specified on Individualized Education Programs (IEP) and teacher lesson plans.
- Prepares and sets-up educational materials.
- Lifts and transports students using appropriate equipment and technique, according to District training.
- Communicates and coordinates with students and parents (oral and written) about routine educational issues.
- Discusses and coordinates instructional efforts with teachers and other educational staff.
- Assists with implementation of structured programs and schedules for the classroom.
- Works in a variety of school, community and home settings.
What You’ll Need:

- Must have a High School diploma/GED plus one of the following: Proof of passing the TABE D Adult Education Test for Reading and Math; minimum SAT scores (within the last 5 years) of 500 in Math and 470 in Reading; or transcript(s) verifying at least 48 semester hours of undergraduate coursework from an accredited college or university.
- Must pass District approved written and physical exams covering de-escalation and physical restraint training, on an annual basis; Specialized training in invasive procedures, such as, tube feeding and catheterization, will be provided, as assignment requires; Required training must be completed within 75 days of initial hire; If using personal or company vehicle to conduct work duties, must have a valid Colorado driver’s license or be able to obtain a Colorado driver’s license within the state’s required time frame for new residents and meet the District’s insurability requirements.
- Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
- Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
- Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.
