INTRODUCTION
As a Materials Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient flow, accuracy, and integrity of materials throughout our manufacturing and distribution processes. This position is responsible for handling, storing, tracking, and moving inventory while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and operational excellence.
You will work as part of a team to execute material control processes, support production needs, and ensure accurate inventory management through system transactions and physical movement of goods.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receive, inspect, wash, pick, package, and ship materials in accordance with established procedures
- Load and unload trucks; coordinate dispatch activities
- Operate material handling equipment, including forklifts
- Perform cycle counts and maintain accurate inventory records in system(s)
- Execute inventory transactions related to manufacturing, procurement, and shipping
- Manage Kanban processes and ensure materials are issued using FIFO methodology
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages or discrepancies
- Track and report scrap and material variances
- Maintain required logs, documentation, and reports
- Support 5S initiatives and identify process improvement opportunities (7 wastes)
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Follow all safety, quality, and operational procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately
- Basic computer proficiency (inventory systems, data entry, transactions)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Safety-conscious mindset
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior experience in materials handling, warehouse, or manufacturing environment
- Forklift certification (or ability to obtain certification)
- Experience with inventory control systems and cycle counting

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move materials up to 45 pounds on an occasional basis
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time (8 - 10 hours)
- Frequent use of hands for handling, grasping, and operating equipment
- Ability to bend, stoop, twist, and reach as required for material handling tasks
- Ability to safely operate powered industrial equipment (e.g., forklift)
- Visual ability to inspect materials and read labels, screens, and documentation
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels
