The Role
As the AS400 (IBM i) Infrastructure Analyst you will be responsible for the administration, stability, performance, and security of the IBM i (AS/400) infrastructure. This role ensures high availability of critical business applications by managing system operations, capacity, upgrades, backup/recovery, and incident resolution, while working closely with application, database, and operations teams.
* This role will require employees to work on-site in the Phoenix area. Candidates are required to live in or around the Phoenix area, or be willing to relocate there.
Key Responsibilities:
IBM i / AS400 System Administration
- Administer, monitor, and support IBM i (AS/400) systems in production, development, and test environments.
- Perform system configuration, upgrades, PTF management, and OS releases.
- Manage system objects, libraries, user profiles, authorization lists, and security settings.
- Monitor system performance, job queues, subsystems, disk usage, and system logs.
- Manage high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions (e.g., PowerHA, MIMIX, iCluster).
- Perform capacity planning and performance tuning.
- Execute backup and recovery procedures and conduct regular restore testing.
Incident, Problem & Change Management
- Troubleshoot and resolve system-level incidents and performance issues.
- Support change management processes, including patching and infrastructure changes.
- Work collaboratively with service management tools (e.g., ServiceNow).
Security & Compliance
- Enforce IBM i security best practices, user access controls, and audit requirements.
- Support internal and external compliance audits (SOX, PCI, etc.).
- Monitor system access, review logs, and remediate vulnerabilities.
Automation & Continuous Improvement
- Develop and maintain CL, RPG, or scripting solutions to automate operational tasks.
- Identify and implement infrastructure improvements and optimization opportunities.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.

Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience administering IBM i (AS/400) environments.
- Strong knowledge of: IBM i OS internals, subsystems, and storage management, CL commands and scripting, Job scheduling and workload management.
- Experience with backup/recovery tools and procedures.
- Working knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery concepts.
- Familiarity with ITIL-based service management processes.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Power Systems hardware and virtualization (LPARs).
- Experience with monitoring tools and automation frameworks.
- Exposure to modernization initiatives (integration with open systems, APIs).
- Prior experience in regulated or mission-critical environments.
The compensation range for this position in the US is $63,840 to $121,440 based on a full-time schedule. Your actual compensation may vary depending on your geography, job-related skills, and experience. For part time roles, the compensation will be adjusted appropriately. The pay or salary range will not be below any applicable state, city, or local minimum wage requirement.
This position will be eligible for Kyndryl's discretionary annual bonus program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Kyndryl's applicable plans. You may also receive a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical and dental coverage, disability, retirement benefits, paid leave and paid time off. Note: if this is a sales commission eligible role, you will be eligible to participate in a sales commission plan in lieu of the annual discretionary bonus program.
