About the Role:
As a Senior IT Engineer at Motive, you will help design, build, and scale the systems that power our global workforce, spanning end-user computing, identity and access, collaboration tooling, office and remote connectivity, and core corporate IT operations. You will report into Austin Karr, Director of IT, and serve as a senior technical contributor who improves reliability, security, and user experience while translating business needs into practical, well-engineered solutions.
This role is ideal for someone who is hands-on, systems-minded, and energized by solving difficult technical problems across multiple layers of the environment. You should be comfortable operating with broad stakeholder awareness, partnering across teams, and bringing a new perspective to existing solutions as Motive continues to scale.
What You'll Do:
- Design, implement, and improve scalable corporate IT infrastructure and services for both office-based and remote employees.
- Lead complex troubleshooting and root-cause analysis across endpoints, identity, collaboration platforms, and network layers to restore service quickly and prevent repeat issues.
- Use agentic development practices to design and build secure, scalable internal tools that automate workflows, improve employee productivity, and extend IT's ability to support the business.
- Build and maintain technical standards, documentation, and operational processes that improve reliability, security, monitoring, and supportability.
- Translate business and stakeholder needs into well-engineered solutions, partnering across departments and with third-party vendors when needed.
- Act as a subject matter expert within IT, driving projects of diverse scope and raising the bar for operational excellence across the department.
What We're Looking For:
- 5+ years of experience in IT engineering, systems administration, network engineering, or a related corporate IT role.
- Expertise supporting modern corporate IT environments, including identity platforms, collaboration tools, endpoint operating systems, and device management.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and execute complex projects independently, identify root causes, and drive solutions that support departmental goals.
- Strong written documentation and cross-functional communication skills, with the ability to build trust and operate as a reliable technical advisor.
Creating a diverse and inclusive workplace is one of Motive's core values. We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome people of different backgrounds, experiences, abilities and perspectives.

Mid Level IT Support Specialist Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level it support specialist job?
Lead with evidence of ownership: tickets you resolved independently, systems you maintained, or processes you improved. Highlight certifications like CompTIA Network+, Security+, or Microsoft certifications that signal readiness beyond helpdesk basics. Tailor your resume to show impact, not just duties, and emphasize experience handling escalations or supporting infrastructure without constant supervision.
Which companies hire mid level it support specialists?
Companies hiring mid level it support specialists right now include Amazon, Ursus, and Computer One, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Employers at this level range from enterprise organizations managing large internal IT environments to managed service providers and technology-forward firms that need specialists who can handle complex support independently.
Are there remote mid level it support specialist jobs?
Yes, though the role often has an on-site component depending on the employer. About 21% of mid level it support specialist openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those roles typically focus on cloud-based environments, remote endpoint management, or software support rather than hands-on hardware work.
How do I move up to a mid level it support specialist role?
Moving from entry level to mid level means building depth in a core area, such as networking, security, or systems administration, and taking ownership of projects beyond basic ticket resolution. Earning intermediate certifications, documenting measurable improvements you drove, and mentoring newer team members all signal to hiring managers that you are ready for greater responsibility and scope.
Which industries hire the most mid level it support specialists?
