INTRODUCTION
Supports ongoing research and development activities in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). Works closely with scientists and research staff, contributing to data-driven projects while gaining hands-on experience in applied AI/ML methodologies.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Assists in the development and implementation of AI and Machine Learning models.
- Performs tasks related to data collection, preprocessing, and data management.
- Supports the training, validation, and evaluation of machine learning algorithms.
- Contributes to the design and testing of analytical workflows and computational pipelines.
- Assists research staff with literature reviews and scientific manuscript preparation.
- Documents experimental procedures, results, and progress reports.
- Participates in team meetings and present updates on assigned work.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Programming skills (preferably in Python).
- Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., Pandas, NumPy) is an asset.
- Interest in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or data-driven research.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a program in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field required.
- Completed at least one project in AI and machine learning required.
- Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) certification within 30 days of transfer or hire required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn) preferred.
- Exposure to data visualization or statistical analysis preferred.
- Prior research or project experience in AI/ML preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, EQUIPMENT USAGE, WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Position is relatively sedentary in a normal office administrative environment involving minimum exposure to physical risks. Will use office equipment such as a computer/laptop, monitor, keyboard, and a general workstation set-up.
