Machine Learning Engineer Jobs in Seattle: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a machine learning engineer job in Seattle?
Seattle's machine learning engineer market centers on cloud infrastructure, e-commerce platforms, and biotech, so candidates who can demonstrate experience with large-scale data pipelines or deep learning frameworks stand out. Roles cluster in South Lake Union and on the Eastside, where major tech campuses dominate. Contributions to open-source projects, a strong GitHub portfolio, and familiarity with distributed systems give candidates a concrete edge with Seattle hiring teams.
Which companies hire machine learning engineers in Seattle?
Seattle machine learning engineer roles are posted by Apple, TikTok, and Amazon and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Seattle attracts a wide range of employer types, from global tech giants and cloud platform companies to fast-growing health-tech and autonomous systems startups concentrated across South Lake Union and the greater Puget Sound region.
Are there remote machine learning engineer jobs in Seattle?
Yes, machine learning engineer work is well-suited to remote and hybrid arrangements given its heavily computational and code-driven nature. About 38% of machine learning engineer openings tied to Seattle are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how broadly tech employers here have adopted flexible work. Roles focused on model development, experimentation, and research tend to be the most remote-friendly, while positions requiring close collaboration with hardware or on-site infrastructure lean toward hybrid.
How can I get a machine learning engineer job in Seattle with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Seattle is targeting junior or associate machine learning engineer roles at mid-size tech companies and research-driven startups, which tend to be more willing to develop talent than large enterprise teams. The University of Washington and local bootcamps supply a pipeline that Seattle employers recognize, so capstone projects and research assistantships carry real weight. Lateral moves from data analyst or software engineer roles into ML-adjacent positions are also a common local on-ramp.
Which industries hire the most machine learning engineers in Seattle?
