Machine Learning Manager Jobs in Washington: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a machine learning manager in Washington?
Machine learning manager roles in Washington require no state-issued license or registration. The typical path is a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, mathematics, or a closely related field, followed by several years as an ML engineer or applied scientist before moving into a lead or staff role. Washington employers generally expect candidates to show technical depth alongside people management experience, often developed through tech lead positions at Seattle-area cloud or software companies before stepping into a formal manager title.
Which companies hire machine learning managers in Washington?
Employers hiring machine learning managers in Washington right now include TikTok, Apple, and Meta, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Washington's concentration of cloud platform and enterprise software headquarters means many of these roles sit inside large AI product or platform organizations rather than standalone ML teams.
Which Washington cities have the most machine learning manager jobs?
Seattle, Bellevue, and Redmond account for the largest share of machine learning manager openings in Washington. Seattle leads because it anchors Amazon and a dense cluster of AI and cloud startups, while Redmond and Bellevue draw volume from Microsoft's campus and the ring of enterprise software firms that have grown up around it, making the Eastside corridor nearly as active as Seattle proper.
Are there remote machine learning manager jobs in Washington?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 41% of machine learning manager openings tied to Washington are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how much of the work happens in code reviews, design documents, and video stand-ups rather than on-site hardware. The portions most likely to stay fully remote are strategy, roadmap planning, and model evaluation, while teams working on proprietary hardware or real-time inference infrastructure tend to require at least partial on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a machine learning manager in Washington with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a team lead or tech lead role within an existing ML engineering position at a Washington company before formally applying to manager openings. Amazon's internal mobility program and Microsoft's senior-to-principal promotion track both create pathways for engineers who demonstrate scope expansion and mentorship before a title change. Building a portfolio of end-to-end deployed models and contributing to open-source projects in LLM tooling or MLOps frameworks helps candidates compete for first-time manager roles at mid-size Seattle and Bellevue AI companies that hire player-coaches.
Where can I find and apply to machine learning manager jobs in Washington?
You can find and apply to machine learning manager jobs in Washington on Migrate Mate, which lists current Washington openings. Find roles that fit your experience and apply directly to the ones that match.
