Mechanical Engineer Jobs in Jacksonville: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mechanical engineer job in Jacksonville?
Focus your search on Jacksonville's strongest hiring sectors: naval and defense contracting tied to NAS Jacksonville, maritime and port infrastructure along the St. Johns River, and industrial manufacturing on the Southside. Candidates with experience in HVAC systems, structural analysis, or propulsion engineering stand out locally. Tailoring your resume to defense and government contract work, and pursuing Security Clearance eligibility early, gives you a concrete edge in this market.
Which companies hire mechanical engineers in Jacksonville?
Companies currently hiring mechanical engineers in Jacksonville include TLC Engineering Solutions, Stellar, and J.S. Held, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Jacksonville's employer mix leans heavily toward defense contractors, utility and energy firms, and manufacturers tied to the region's port and logistics infrastructure.
Are there remote mechanical engineer jobs in Jacksonville?
Yes, though remote work is limited for mechanical engineers since most roles involve hands-on design, testing, or on-site systems work. About 50% of mechanical engineer openings tied to Jacksonville are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting modest flexibility in the market. Analytical and CAD-heavy roles, such as design review or simulation work, are the most likely to offer hybrid arrangements locally.
How can I get a mechanical engineer job in Jacksonville with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Jacksonville is through defense and government contractors, many of which run structured early-career programs and hire co-ops or junior engineers from Florida universities. Targeting roles like mechanical engineering technician or design support analyst at Southside industrial firms can also open the door. Familiarity with CAD software, SolidWorks in particular, and any coursework in thermodynamics or structural analysis makes candidates noticeably more competitive locally.
Which industries hire the most mechanical engineers in Jacksonville?
The sectors hiring the most mechanical engineers in Jacksonville are Manufacturing and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Jacksonville's naval installation, deep-water port, and expanding energy and utilities infrastructure drive consistent demand for mechanical engineers across those sectors year-round.
