Job Summary:
Location: Methodist Fremont Health Hospital
Address: 450 E 23rd St. - Fremont, NE
Work Schedule: Night shift or evening shift, with rotating weekend and holiday coverage
Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture collection of blood specimens from patients.
- Prepare biological specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Conduct diagnostic laboratory tests that are important in detecting, analyzing, and treating a wide variety of diseases and medical conditions.
- Conduct chemical analysis of body fluids, including blood, urine, or spinal fluid, to determine presence of normal or abnormal components.
- Enter data from analysis of medical tests or clinical results into computer for storage.
- Analyze laboratory findings to check the accuracy of the results.
- Communicate test or assessment results to medical professionals.
- Select and prepare specimens and media for cell cultures, using aseptic technique and knowledge of medium components and cell requirements.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain equipment (and document calibration and maintenance) used in quantitative or qualitative analysis, such as spectrophotometers, calorimeters, flame photometers, or computer-controlled analyzers.
- Establish or monitor quality assurance programs or activities to ensure the accuracy of laboratory results.
- Complete and document quality control and compliance with PPE guidelines.
- Complete training required including mandatory and/or CE programs, maintain knowledge and compliance with regulatory and accreditation agencies.
- Follow organization’s mission, vision, core values and policies.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Medical Laboratory Science or closely related field from an accredited program OR Bachelor's degree or equivalent and a MLS Certificate from an accredited program.
