Job Description
DUTIES: Create highly parametric surfaces for vehicle aerodynamics and thermal development. Convert existing CAD models into simplified, clean assemblies that are CFD-friendly and optimized for high-fidelity meshing. Design and develop mechanical parts for aerodynamics and cooling physical testing. Collaborate with the global design studio on styling surface development. Coordinate the release, manufacturing, and assembly of test parts to ensure quality and timely delivery. Support the development of CFD automation processes. Manage multiple full car and subsystem assemblies within a CAD database. Develop and maintain processes to ensure thoroughness and consistency within a structured team environment. Participate in planning and conducting physical tests in wind tunnels and other related facilities. 20% domestic and international travel. Hybrid Work Policy - 3 days In-office, 2 days remote - Must be able to report to local office.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field of study. Five (5) years of experience as a Design Engineer or related occupation. OR Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field of study and two (2) years of experience as a Design Engineer or related occupation. Five (5) years of experience with the following: Complex parametric surface and solid development using 3D CAD software Catia and NX for exterior and internal vehicle surfaces; and Creating and interpreting 2D drawings, including GD&T and tolerance stacks. Three (3) years of experience with the following: Designing and releasing parts in a production environment, including production techniques including casting, 3D printing, CNC machining, sheet metal, and weldment design from initial concept to packaging studies, to CAE design refinement process to final release of parts and quality inspection; Design of complex components using composite materials, including tooling and assembly considerations; Development of class-A surfaces and styling surfaces in collaboration with design studio; and Designing jigs and fixtures for fabrication and testing. One (1) year of experience with the following: Racing aerodynamic surface development; Read and convey complex shapes and assemblies using visual means including sketching and marker rendering; Translate surface concepts from sketches and images into parametric models; and Electronic instrumentation installation. If qualifying based on a Master's degree must have two (2) years of experience in the following: Complex parametric surface and solid development using 3D CAD software Catia and NX for exterior and internal vehicle surfaces; Creating and interpreting 2D drawings, including GD&T and tolerance stacks; Designing and releasing parts in a production environment, including production techniques including casting, 3D printing, CNC machining, sheet metal, and weldment design from initial concept to packaging studies, to CAE design refinement process to final release of parts and quality inspection; Design of complex components using composite materials, including tooling and assembly considerations; Development of class-A surfaces and styling surfaces in collaboration with design studio; and Designing jigs and fixtures for fabrication and testing.
