Network Engineering Manager Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a network engineering manager in Texas?
Most network engineering managers in Texas follow a path that starts with a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or electrical engineering, followed by hands-on engineering roles and recognized certifications such as CCNP or CCIE. Texas does not require a state-issued license for this management role, but employers across Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, and Austin consistently expect a combination of senior-level technical experience and a record of team leadership before promoting or hiring into the manager title.
How much do network engineering managers make in Texas?
Network engineering managers in Texas earn a median of about $171,370 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $120,460 for the lowest 10% to over $277,790 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire network engineering managers in Texas?
Employers hiring network engineering managers in Texas right now include NextGen | GTA: A Kelly Telecom Company, Amazon, and Charles Schwab, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of defense contractors, telecommunications headquarters, and large enterprise technology campuses means hiring is especially steady with companies that operate large private or hybrid networks across multiple facilities.
Which Texas cities have the most network engineering manager jobs?
Austin, Plano, and Addison have the most network engineering manager openings in Texas. Dallas-Fort Worth leads because it is home to major telecom and technology corporate headquarters, Houston's concentration of energy companies and petrochemical enterprises drives steady demand for infrastructure managers, and Austin's growing enterprise technology sector adds a consistent second tier of openings.
Are there remote network engineering manager jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they are less common than in purely analytical roles because network engineering managers are often expected to be on-site for data center oversight, hardware troubleshooting, and team supervision. About 20% of network engineering manager openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and the positions most likely to offer flexibility are those focused on cloud network architecture or policy governance rather than physical infrastructure management.
How can I get hired as a network engineering manager in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a lead network engineer or senior network engineer role first, then building supervisory experience through project ownership or mentoring junior staff. Large Texas employers in telecommunications and defense, including regional carriers and contractors based in the Dallas-Fort Worth and San Antonio corridors, often promote from within their network operations teams. Earning a CCNP certification and taking on incident command or change management responsibilities signals readiness for management without requiring a formal manager title on your resume.
Where can I find and apply to network engineering manager jobs in Texas?
