Position Summary
The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation delivers comprehensive, patient-centered care for children with neurological, musculoskeletal, and developmental disabilities. Working alongside physiatrists, therapists, orthotists, and neurosurgeons, the PNP assesses function, manages spasticity and chronic pain, and optimizes mobility and independence.
Responsibilities
Direct Patient Care
- Conduct detailed neuro-musculoskeletal and functional assessments, including gait analysis and standardized outcome measures
- Diagnose and manage conditions such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida, and neuromuscular disorders
- Prescribe and oversee pharmacologic spasticity interventions (oral antispasmodics)
Intrathecal Baclofen Pump Management
- Program and adjust baclofen pump settings using an external programmer
- Coordinate and perform pump refills under aseptic technique, monitor infusion logs, and manage device alarms
- Identify and address complications (infection, catheter issues, pump malfunction) in collaboration with neurosurgery
Rehabilitation Program Coordination & Quality Improvement
- Develop individualized rehabilitation plans incorporating PT, OT, SLP, orthotics, and adaptive equipment
- Engage in meaningful QI projects
Multidisciplinary Team & Leadership
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds with therapists, orthotists, case managers, and social workers
- Precept and mentor NP/PA students, and nursing staff on PM&R best practices
- Contribute to development and revision of clinical pathways, order sets, and educational materials
Citizenship

- Engage in departmental meetings, community outreach, and ongoing professional development
Requirements
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing (MSN or DNP) with Pediatric Nurse Practitioner specialization
- Current, unrestricted Washington State APRN license; PNP-BC or CPNP-PC/AC certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Proven competence in intrathecal baclofen pump programming and refill procedures preferred; training available for strong candidates
- Experience or clinical rotation in pediatric PM&R, spasticity management, or neurology preferred; new graduates with relevant exposure will be considered
- Proficiency with Epic preferred
- Excellent diagnostic reasoning, interprofessional communication, and patient/family education skills
- Commitment to evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and enhancing pediatric functional outcomes

Pay and Benefit Expectations
We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $166,000.00 - $178,000.00 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
