Tips for Your Pediatric Cardiologist Job Search
Tailor your CV to each subspecialty
Interventional programs want procedure volume and cath lab experience front and center, while academic centers prioritize grants and publications. Pull the relevant work to the top of your CV for each application rather than sending a single general document.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists pediatric cardiologist openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Highlight board certification status clearly
Pediatric Cardiology board certification from the American Board of Pediatrics is a hard filter for most hospital systems. State your certification date or exam schedule explicitly in your cover letter so hiring managers don't have to guess your timeline.
Target job titles beyond the obvious
Children's hospitals often post openings as Pediatric Cardiac Intensivist, Pediatric Cardiologist Invasive, or Congenital Heart Disease Specialist. Searching only 'pediatric cardiologist' means you'll miss roles that fit your training perfectly.
Prepare for the clinical and administrative interview
Large health systems typically run two interview rounds: one with the division chief focused on clinical scenarios and one with hospital leadership covering quality metrics and departmental goals. Preparing separately for each prevents you from being caught off-guard in the second round.
Negotiate call schedule and RVU targets together
Compensation packages in pediatric cardiology are shaped as much by call frequency and relative value unit thresholds as by base salary. Ask for both figures in writing before accepting any offer so you can compare positions on equal terms.
Pediatric Cardiologist Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most pediatric cardiologists?
The companies hiring the most pediatric cardiologists right now include Oregon Health & Science University, University of Kentucky, and Hackensack Meridian Health, with the largest share of openings in Oregon, Louisiana, and Georgia, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Children's hospital networks and academic health systems consistently account for the majority of active postings.
How many pediatric cardiologist jobs are remote?
About 0% of pediatric cardiologist openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the hands-on nature of most cardiology work. Telehealth roles focused on follow-up consultations, remote echocardiogram reads, and outreach clinic support represent the sub-areas most likely to offer flexible or remote arrangements.
How do you become a pediatric cardiologist?
You become a pediatric cardiologist by completing medical school, a three-year pediatrics residency, and a three-year pediatric cardiology fellowship accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. After fellowship, you sit for the subspecialty certification examination through the American Board of Pediatrics. Some physicians pursue additional training in interventional techniques, electrophysiology, or advanced heart failure before entering independent practice.
Can you get hired as a pediatric cardiologist with limited attending experience?
Yes, many children's hospitals and academic programs actively recruit physicians directly out of fellowship with no prior attending experience. Employers in those settings expect to onboard new graduates and often provide structured mentorship, supervised procedure time, and protected research or quality-improvement hours during the first one to two years of employment.
What does the pediatric cardiologist interview process look like?
The process typically starts with a phone or video screen with a physician recruiter or division chief, followed by an in-person visit that includes clinical case discussions, a grand rounds or formal presentation, tours of the cath lab and echo suite, and separate meetings with cardiology faculty, hospital administration, and advanced practice providers. A committee debrief and reference checks usually follow before an offer is extended.
Where can I find and apply to pediatric cardiologist jobs?
You can find and apply to pediatric cardiologist jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from children's hospitals, academic medical centers, and multispecialty health systems across the United States. Find roles that match your subspecialty training and career stage, then apply directly to each listing.
