Salary Range: Up to $54,000/Annualized, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

Job Summary

The Program Manager/Life Skills Coordinator organizes and manages programming in accordance with the mission and goals of rapid rehousing intervention for young adults with experiences of foster care, domestic violence, and homelessness. This role manages, coordinates and administers activities related to life skills, education, and employment by developing and implementing procedures, processes, services and systems. The position serves as liaison with community partners and other program staff to ensure cooperation, efficiencies and accomplishment of stated objectives. 

This is a grant-funded position, which may be extended or shortened based upon availability of funds and/or work. 

Core Responsibilities

• Develops and coordinates life skills workshops and training to support young adults in enhancing skills to maintain stable housing and pursuit of postsecondary education.
• Provides job readiness coaching and coordination with workforce development agencies, employers, apprenticeship programs and educational institutions.
• Supports participants in understanding lease/rent obligations, utility management and housing related financial responsibilities.
• Conducts intake and service assessments from a trauma-informed perspective; refers participants to campus based and/or other community resources as appropriate. Follows up and tracks service utilization.
• Develops holistic safety plans in collaboration with youth experiencing domestic violence from a trauma-informed perspective that prioritizes urgent needs and confidentiality.
• Completes data entry into the local Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) for HUD compliance.
• Collaborates effectively with program partners and Youth Action Council to develop and sustain supportive services for program participants 
• Implements and manages changes and interventions to ensure project goals are achieved.
• Provides task supervision for social work field students and/or peer advocates.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related field.
• One year of related work experience including training development and facilitation. 
• This position may require the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per Texas EO-GA-48.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in social work (MSW) or related graduate coursework in progress.
• Experience in a program supporting young adults with experiences of foster care and homelessness.
• Experience developing and facilitating workshops, curricula and training for young adults focused on life skills, employment, financial literacy and/or independent living.
• Experience with funded research projects.
• Professional experience working with survivors of domestic violence.
• Experience with landlord navigation and local Homeless Management Information System (HMIS).
• Experience working in a state child welfare agency.
• Related experience including training development and facilitation.
• Bilingual, Spanish and English.

Working Conditions

• Office Environment. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events. Workdays, areas, and work hours may vary based on the needs of the department.

Physical Demands

• Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary, if walking and standing are required, only occasionally. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.

This position will work primarily on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
