Presbyterian is seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician who, under the supervision of a pharmacist, supports safe and efficient medication distribution. This role is responsible for filling medication orders, prepackaging and compounding pharmaceuticals, replenishing inventory, delivering medications, and performing essential clerical tasks that keep pharmacy operations running smoothly. Responsibilities:
As a Pharmacy Technician II, you will support safe and efficient medication distribution by assisting with the preparation, packaging, and delivery of medications under pharmacist supervision. You will help maintain accurate inventory, ensure proper handling of medications, and perform essential operational and clerical tasks that keep pharmacy workflows running smoothly across inpatient and outpatient areas.
- Perform all non-sterile medication ordering, preparation, and dispensing activities.
- Fill medication orders for inpatient and outpatient areas.
- Use pharmacy technology systems such as Pyxis, Pharmogistics, and CII Safe.
- Compound, label, repackage, and prepare non-sterile medications and unit-dose packaging.
- Prepare medication carts, trays, and kits.
- Handle non-sterile hazardous medications safely and follow proper waste and disposal procedures.
- Maintain required records for controlled and non-controlled substances.
- Deliver medications and supplies to patient care units and ancillary areas.
- Answer phones and respond to routine questions and issues.
- Monitor medication stock, remove outdated items, and ensure storage meets manufacturer requirements.
- Adhere to the Department Compliance Plan for controlled substances.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Specialized, short-term training in the areas of pharmacy law, practices standards, terminology, pharmacy math, drug preparation, dosage forms and trade/generic names.
- Pharmacy Technician National Certification through exam or transfer required.
- Active New Mexico Board of Pharmacy. Pharmacy technician license required.
