Description
The Plant Scheduler builds production plans for the Molding and Fabricating departments to maximize efficiency and meet or exceed customer expectations. Clearly communicates relevant information to customer service as needed. The nester plans material usage to minimize scrap and labor based on current jobs and material availability. Uses on-floor presence to keep limbo inventory at a minimum and adjust processes as necessary based on production needs.
Key Responsibilities
Plant Scheduler:
- Proactively monitors and communicates production order status updates to Customer Service and the Plant Manager.
- Provides daily PAST DUE update for corrective action review.
- Provides recommendations for overtime based on past due or impending past due orders.
- Build a daily run schedule by 11:00am for all lines in the Molding department.
- Build a daily run schedule by 3:00pm for machines and cells in the Fabricating department.
- Nests and schedules work as needed for the production floor.
- Freeze next day scheduled by 11am for molding and 3pm for fabrication.
- Lays out scheduling priorities and assists Dept Supervision with execution.
- Minimize time between PO receipt and scheduled job.
- Follows all change orders, sample orders, and rework order requests and provides updates as needed.
- Works with Maintenance to plan for scheduled downtime.
- Ensuring safety is always the top priority.
- Other duties as assigned.
Nester:
- Nest jobs for fabrication department.
- Release/Print job orders and prints for production DAILY.
- On hand negatives/positives – work with support staff to address discrepancies.
- Answer phones and window when customer service representative and purchaser are not available.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from an accredited four-year college or university preferred; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in Scheduling or Operations Management.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to production leadership
- Must effectively balance the needs of customers with those of the Company
