Summary
Installs, maintains and repairs water, sewer, steam, and gas systems. Performs inspections, testing and preventative maintenance of water, sewer, fire suppression, steam and gas systems. Provides general facility maintenance.
Job Duties
- Analyzes blueprints and specifications in order to understand the existing building's layout of pipes, drainage systems, and other plumbing systems.
- Provides maintenance and repair of piping, valves, fixtures, drainage systems, steam, and gas systems.
- Performs inspections, testing and preventative maintenance of water, sewer, fire suppression, steam and gas systems, ensuring compliance with state, local codes and Joint Commission standards.
- Responds to trouble calls, work requests and emergency situations.
- Performs minor maintenance of electrical, mechanical equipment, HVAC, systems, structures and other general maintenance.
- Assists department colleagues of all trades.
- Utilizes the CMMS work order system and documents time and work completed, all in a timely manner.
- Maintains inventory and acquires parts as needed to perform repairs.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED with required years of experience or Technical School Diploma in Plumbing or related trade
- 3 years experience as a plumber in commercial or industrial setting or less than 1 year with Technical School Diploma
- Ability to read drawings and figures to understand the layout of water supply, waste, and venting systems.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
- Skill in using hand and power tools and machines to measure, cut, bend, and thread pipes.
- Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Physical Demands
Lift over 50 lbs. Push/pull up to 140 lbs. Carry 80 lbs. short distances. Frequent standing/walking, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing and reaching overhead.
