Perinatal Medication Management Provider

Psychiatrist / Nurse Practitioner

Nurture Therapy | Part-time with a pathway to full-time | Flexible schedule | No call, no weekends

The role

Nurture Therapy is looking for a nurse practitioner to provide outpatient medication management for our perinatal clients. You'll join an established medication management team and work alongside a nurse coordinator, a collaborating psychiatrist physician and our therapists to give clients truly integrated care through fertility, pregnancy, postpartum and parenthood.

We're hiring part-time, with room to grow into a full-time caseload:

• Part-time: about 20 client sessions a week (roughly 12–15 hours)
• Full-time: 35–40 client sessions a week (roughly 24–32 hours)

What you'll do

Assessment and counseling

• Conduct comprehensive evaluations, including obstetric, mental health and medication history, to determine whether medication is appropriate and which options best fit each client.
• Consider symptoms, past treatment and potential contraindications in every recommendation.
• Educate and counsel clients and their families on the benefits and risks of medication during pregnancy and breastfeeding, including potential adverse effects.

Prescribing and monitoring

• Prescribe medication when appropriate, including type, dosage and frequency, based on each client's symptoms and needs.
• Order and review labs and genetic testing where appropriate.
• Discuss benefits, risks and side effects with clients as part of informed consent.
• Stay alert to adverse effects during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and communicate with clients and their other providers as needed.
• Monitor and adjust medication over time.

Quality and collaboration

• Partner with obstetricians, psychiatrists and therapists to build comprehensive treatment plans.
• Maintain accurate, complete records in our electronic medical record, with AI notetaker support.
• Stay current on research in medication management during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and bring it into your practice.
• Other duties as assigned.

What you bring

• An advanced nursing degree (MSN or DNP) from an accredited institution
• Nurse practitioner certification: PMHNP with interest or experience in perinatal mental health is preferred; we also welcome FNPs, WHNPs and CNMs with interest or experience in psychiatry
• A current Illinois nurse practitioner license and active DEA registration, or the ability to obtain both before your start date
• 3–5 years of nursing or nurse practitioner experience in a relevant field
• Willingness to practice under supervision and a collaborative agreement
• Availability for at least four hours on Fridays
• Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) preferred
