Position Highlights
The D-PReD (Drug-(Preformulation, Repurposing, and Drug Delivery) Research Laboratory at the R. Ken Coit College of Pharmacy, University of Arizona seeks a postdoctoral fellow with expertise in the development, characterization and in vivo evaluation of ocular delivery systems. The person selected for this position will also assist the Principal Investigator, Dr. Abhijit Date, in the laboratory management, supervision of undergraduate and graduate students, and manuscript writing.

Duties & Responsibilities
Development of drug nanocrystals, polymeric micelles and lipid nanoformulations for various routes of administration.
Development and characterization of pharmaceutical ionic liquids and deep eutectic systems.
Analysis of solubility, drug content, stability, and in vitro drug release using HPLC/LC-MS or suitable analytical techniques.
Ex vivo permeation studies using rabbit and pig corneas.
Cell culture work.
Ocular pharmacokinetics studies.
Participation in ongoing collaborative projects.
Analyzes and interprets generated data and works with the Principal Investigator (PI) to determine next steps on experimental results and writes manuscripts and progress reports.
Provides technical resources and problem solving for graduate students and undergraduate researchers.
Writes manuscripts and progress reports.
Laboratory management, from biosafety, chemical safety, instrument operation to animal protocol approval.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of scientific writing to prepare manuscripts and reports.
Knowledge of pharmaceutical science.
Professional communication skills, including written and oral.
General computer skills using numerous software programs including, Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
Knowledge of Preformulation/Drug Delivery Systems/Analytical Chemistry.
Minimum Qualifications
PhD from an accredited college or university in Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, Polymer Chemistry or a related field.
Minimum 3-4 years of research experience in the development and in vivo evaluation of ocular nanoformulations.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the development and characterization of ocular delivery systems including nanoformulations and/or microneedles.
Experience in conducting ocular pharmacokinetics studies in rabbits.
Experience in evaluating ocular formulations in the animal model of ocular bacterial/viral infections.
Experience in various techniques used for the synthesis of nanoparticles, liposomes, nanocrystals or micelles.
Experience in characterization techniques such as 1-D and 2-D NMR, FT-IR, MS, DSC/TGA and HPLC analysis of drugs or drugs from formulations.
Experience in ocular pharmacokinetics studies in suitable animals.
