ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Here’s What Your Day to Day Looks Like:

• Supervise construction on highway and/or roadway projects.
• Maintain accurate records and reports related to the project.
• Plan, schedule, and coordinate with contractors and negotiate change orders.
• Be the key contact with the client and subconsultants.
• Monitor progress against the construction schedule.
• Review the Contractor’s progress reports, and inform the Project Manager and client in case of delay.
• Direct, assist, and monitor the performance of Construction Inspection and office engineers.
• Oversee field site activities and provide technical advice on construction and design.
• Discuss deviations from specified construction materials and procedures with Engineer-In-Charge.
• Regularly review and approve contract submittals and payment applications to contractors.
• Participate in contract close-out activities.
• Conduct regular progress meetings with the contractor and appropriate personnel and report on any issues, as necessary.
• Knowledge of IDOT, CDOT, Tollway, and other agencies' systems and operations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

You’ll be a great fit if you have this:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• 5+ years of Inspection experience in bridge, highway, and roadway projects.
• Current Illinois Professional Engineer license required.
• Current Documentation of Quantities Certification is a plus.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret contract documents, construction plans, and specifications.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong time management skills and excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to effectively manage project team members.
• Must be very organized and have effective problem-solving, leadership, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work on multiple projects/deadlines.
• Experience with project pursuits and proposals is a plus.

COMPENSATION

The compensation range is a good-faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skill set, and physical work location.
