INTRODUCTION
You're the technical leader for Internal Tools, owning architecture, quality, and engineering standards for the tools our internal teams rely on every day. This isn't a maintenance role. You'll bring recommendation, ranking, and other data-driven techniques to bear on how our tools work, and push for smarter automation wherever it saves people time. We're looking for someone adept in AI-collaborative development who can define the right problems and balance human and technology intelligence to solve them thoughtfully. You'll work directly with the Engineering Manager, who brings product requirements and technical vision; you turn them into specs, system designs, and implementation plans. You're the team's top technical voice while also being a high-output IC. Expect roughly a 80/20 split between hands-on coding and technical leadership.
Responsibilities
- Own technical direction for Internal Tools, including front-end architecture and component/design system strategy, and turn product requirements into technical designs and engineering tickets
- Design and build new internal tools and admin features end-to-end, front-end through back-end
- Find opportunities to apply recommendation, ranking, and search techniques to our tools, partnering with data science and product to set priorities
- Drive down technical debt through targeted refactors and set engineering standards through design reviews
- Build reusable components and tooling that pay off beyond a single project
- Be the escalation point for deep debugging, and partner with security to keep admin interfaces locked down
- Help engineers grow through pairing, code review, and direct feedback; write the specs and docs that let the team build with confidence
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years building software, with a track record of shipping systems that scale
- Strong system design and architecture skills
- Extensive experience in JavaScript/TypeScript and Node.js
- Advanced, production-grade React skills
- Hands-on with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Elasticsearch, including performance tuning
- Experience building and scaling backend systems, ideally at a startup or small company
- Track record of mentoring engineers
WHAT SETS YOU APART
- Production experience with Next.js
- Experience with recommendation, ranking, or search systems
- Product-minded: you think about users, not just systems
- Background building internal tools or ops platforms
- Comfortable with cloud infrastructure, Docker/Kubernetes, and CI/CD
- Familiar with prompt engineering, fine-tuning, or shipping ML in production
We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses and identifying potential inconsistencies or verification signals in application materials based on available information. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans. Mid Level Senior Fullstack Developer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level senior fullstack developer job?
Position yourself around ownership, not just execution. Highlight features you drove from design to deployment, decisions you made without close supervision, and any cross-functional collaboration you led. Concrete pull requests, shipped products, and performance improvements carry more weight than years of experience alone. Tailor each application to show you can hold both the frontend and backend sides of a problem independently.
Which companies hire mid level senior fullstack developers?
Companies hiring mid level senior fullstack developers right now include Citi, Scale AI, and Huntington Bank, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a broad mix of growth-stage startups and established technology organizations that need developers who can contribute independently across the full stack.
Are there remote mid level senior fullstack developer jobs?
Yes, remote and hybrid opportunities are a significant part of the market. About 27% of mid level senior fullstack developer openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, making this one of the more flexible roles in software engineering. Fully remote positions tend to favor developers who can communicate design decisions clearly in writing and manage their own delivery without daily check-ins.
How do I move up to a mid level senior fullstack developer role?
The path from early career to mid level is built on deepening specialization and expanding ownership over time. Start by mastering one side of the stack thoroughly, then build competency on the other. Take on features end to end, seek code review feedback actively, and volunteer for projects that require coordination with product or design. Measurable impact, such as reducing load time or shipping a feature that increased retention, is what distinguishes a mid level candidate from a junior developer.
Which industries hire the most mid level senior fullstack developers?
Mid Level senior fullstack developer roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Banking & Financial Services, and Investment & Asset Management, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These sectors rely on fast product iteration and complex user-facing applications, which creates sustained demand for developers who can work across the full stack without needing senior engineers to oversee every decision.
