INTRODUCTION
We are seeking an expert Senior Network & Security Engineer for a 6-month contract engagement on-site in Orange County, CA. In this role, you will lead complex network and security architecture execution across enterprise multi-platform environments. You will be responsible for designing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting LAN/WAN infrastructure, enterprise perimeter firewalls, load balancers, and wireless networks to ensure maximum uptime, optimal performance, and robust security posture.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Architect, configure, manage, and troubleshoot Cisco enterprise routing and switching infrastructure, enterprise wireless controllers, and advanced routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, HSRP, EIGRP).
- Manage perimeter security infrastructure, including Palo Alto and Cisco ASA firewalls, security policies, profiles, network segmentation zones, and access controls.
- Oversee network security monitoring and threat detection using centralized management and security operation platforms (Panorama, Cortex XDR).
- Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot load balancing solutions (F5 LTM) including custom iRules development, traffic management, and SSL offloading.
- Perform deep-dive packet captures and traffic analysis (tcpdump, Wireshark) to diagnose complex network anomalies, execute system upgrades, and maintain updated network topology documentation (Visio).
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience: 8+ years of dedicated hands-on experience as a Network Engineer within complex, multi-vendor enterprise environments.
- Tech Stack: Cisco Routing & Switching, Palo Alto Firewalls, F5 LTM (including iRules), Cisco WLAN, Panorama, Cortex XDR, Wireshark, and core protocols (BGP, OSPF, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/S, SSH, VoIP).
- Domain Knowledge: Expert understanding of LAN/WAN connectivity design, enterprise perimeter security principles, load balancing strategies, and infrastructure interdependencies.
- Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related technical field; active CCNP (or higher) and Palo Alto certification (PCNSE/PCNSA preferred).
