Entry Level Service Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level service engineer job?
Start by building hands-on experience through internships, co-ops, or personal projects that demonstrate troubleshooting and equipment maintenance skills. Employers at this level prioritize candidates who can show they have worked with mechanical or electrical systems in any capacity. A technical degree in engineering or a related field helps, and certifications in relevant equipment or software give entry level applicants a concrete edge over other new candidates.
Which companies hire entry level service engineers?
Companies hiring entry level service engineers right now include Atlas Copco, Caterpillar, and Edwards Vacuum, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. At this level, hiring covers large equipment manufacturers, industrial services firms, and technology hardware companies that maintain dedicated field and depot service teams for new engineers.
Are there remote entry level service engineer jobs?
Yes, though most service engineer roles at this level involve on-site or field work. About 17% of entry level service engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions tend to be in technical support, remote diagnostics, or customer-facing troubleshooting rather than hands-on installation or repair work.
Are these new grad service engineer jobs?
Yes, many postings in this category are new grad and junior roles designed for recent graduates with little or no professional experience. A new grad friendly posting typically welcomes zero to two years of experience and accepts internships, academic projects, or a portfolio in place of full-time work history. Look for language like "entry level," "new graduate," or "will train" in the job description.
Which industries hire the most entry level service engineers?
Entry Level service engineer roles concentrate in Manufacturing, Consulting & Professional Services, and Electronics & Hardware, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. These sectors drive consistent hiring at this level because their products require ongoing installation, commissioning, and maintenance support that companies staff with junior engineers they can train on proprietary systems.
