ORGANIZATION SUMMARY
World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization whose mission is to boldly engage the world’s greatest crises in partnership with the church. The organization was founded in the aftermath of World War II to respond to the urgent humanitarian needs of war-torn Europe. Since then, for 80 years, across 100 countries, World Relief has partnered with local churches and communities to build a world where families thrive and communities flourish.
Today, organizational programming focuses on humanitarian and disaster response, community strengthening and resilience, and refugee & immigrant services and advocacy.
Position Summary:
Hybrid schedule: {Add schedule, ex.1 day onsite and 4 work from home days}
This is a limited-term position funded through a grant agreement until (DATE) and contingent upon funding extension.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct outreach and evaluation to identify eligible program participants and enroll 30 new participants in program services annually.
- Provide multi-faceted intensive case management services to a caseload of 30 older refugees, SIVs and other Office of Refugee Resettlement eligible individuals.
- Create and implement individualized Wellness Plans in collaboration with clients enrolled in the SOR program.
- Coordinate appointments and referrals for clients including medical and mental health appointments, social services, and other community referrals.
- Provide transportation and/or arrange Medicaid transportation to medical appointments.
- Facilitate community gatherings wherein older refugees can meet and engage with other members of the local community.
- Creatively engage participant interests and past experiences to design community building activities and gatherings to combat isolation and facilitate inclusion.
- Facilitate friendship “matches” between program participants and members of the community.
- Conduct continuous community outreach to identify community partners able to provide culturally and linguistically appropriate integration support services to program participants.
- Provide referrals and service connections to ensure older refugees have equitable access to community and specialist services for integration support.
- Provide education on naturalization process for older refugees and facilitate enrollments in ESL and/or citizenship classes to facilitate progress toward eventual citizenship.
- Assist eligible older refugees to apply for N648 disability waivers to expedite naturalization process.
- Maintain accurate and up to date records including case notes, case files, budgets, and reports.
- Participate in quarterly consultation with community stakeholders to facilitate creative collaboration to assist refugees in their integration journeys.
- Collaborate with other WRD client service staff to provide holistic services that maximize all core offerings for which clients are eligible.
- Maintain open, ongoing communication with staff, volunteers, and community partners on behalf of clients in accordance with individual self-sufficiency plans, while honoring confidentiality.
Job Requirements:
- Mature and personal Christian faith
- Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
- Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
- Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Relief's Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Association of Evangelicals' For the Health of The Nation document
- At least 2 years direct-service experience with vulnerable populations
- BA/BS in relevant field such as Social Work, Public Health, etc.
- Highly self-motivated with strong follow-through and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with MS Office and Google Drive products
- Valid driver’s license, regular access to vehicle, and ability/willingness to drive clients to appointments
- Flexible schedule for occasional work during early mornings, late evenings or weekends
- High levels of comfort with technology, especially Zoom functions
- Fluent in Microsoft software including Excel, Word, and Outlook; skilled in Google Suite products, including Google Drive; prefer Dynamics or other CRM experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Passionate, dynamic, and good at improvising
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task and organize in a fast paced and fluid environment
- Ability to work with individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong preference for candidates who are fluent in at least one language spoken by refugees in Durham: Arabic, Dari, Farsi, Pashto, Swahili, Tigrinya, or Urdu.
- Direct service experience with immigrant and/or refugee populations
- Graduate degree in social work, public health or related field preferred
