What You’ll Do:
Partner directly with enterprise customers to design, build, and implement Kong-based solutions across cloud, hybrid, and on-premise environments.
Lead hands-on implementation efforts for API gateways, AI gateways, service mesh, developer portals, and related connectivity technologies.
Build automation frameworks, migration tooling, custom integrations, and reusable accelerators to simplify customer adoption and modernization efforts.
Drive migration initiatives from legacy API management platforms to Kong.
Work closely with customer developers, platform teams, architects, security teams, and executives to solve complex technical and operational challenges.
Develop production-grade code, scripts, plugins, CI/CD integrations, Kubernetes automation, and infrastructure tooling as part of customer engagements.
Collaborate with Kong Product and Engineering teams to influence roadmap priorities based on real-world customer feedback and implementation learnings.
Create reusable best practices, technical assets, reference architectures, documentation, and design patterns to scale delivery excellence across the organization.

Staff Engineer Jobs in Phoenix: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a staff engineer job in Phoenix?
Target Phoenix's strongest hiring sectors: semiconductor and chip design firms clustered in Chandler, enterprise software and cloud companies in Tempe, and financial technology employers anchored along the Camelback Corridor. Candidates who demonstrate cross-functional technical leadership and system-level ownership stand out most. Networking through local engineering meetups and university partnerships in the East Valley can open doors that cold applications miss.
Which companies hire staff engineers in Phoenix?
Companies currently hiring staff engineers in Phoenix include Moog, Western Alliance Bank, and HCVT, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Phoenix draws a mix of large-scale semiconductor and aerospace employers alongside a growing cohort of fintech and cloud infrastructure firms that have relocated or expanded regional engineering offices here.
Are there remote staff engineer jobs in Phoenix?
Yes, though availability varies: staff engineer roles in software architecture and platform engineering tend to offer remote or hybrid flexibility, while those tied to hardware, lab environments, or on-site infrastructure typically require in-person presence. About 70% of staff engineer openings tied to Phoenix are remote or hybrid as of September 2026. Software-focused roles at Phoenix-area fintech and cloud companies represent the largest share of those flexible positions.
How can I get a staff engineer job in Phoenix with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Phoenix is moving up through senior engineer roles at the city's mid-size semiconductor or software firms, where internal promotion to staff-level is common. Entry-level candidates benefit from targeting rotational programs at large employers in Chandler and Tempe, contributing to open-source projects that mirror local tech stacks, and building visibility within Arizona's engineering community through local tech groups and university-affiliated hackathons.
