Surgical Dental Assistant Jobs in Arkansas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a surgical dental assistant in Arkansas?
Arkansas requires dental assistants who perform radiographic procedures to hold a radiography certificate issued or recognized by the Arkansas State Board of Dental Examiners. Most surgical dental assistant positions also expect completion of an accredited dental assisting program through a community college such as Pulaski Technical College or the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith. Obtaining Dental Assisting National Board certification strengthens your application considerably with Arkansas oral surgery practices.
Which companies hire surgical dental assistants in Arkansas?
Arkansas surgical dental assistant roles are posted by Saint Mary's Regional Health System, Mercy, and CommonSpirit Health and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Large health systems and multi-location dental service organizations with Arkansas footprints tend to post the most consistently, especially in Little Rock and the Northwest Arkansas corridor.
Which Arkansas cities have the most surgical dental assistant jobs?
Little Rock, Benton, and Russellville have the most surgical dental assistant openings in Arkansas. Little Rock drives the highest volume as home to UAMS and the state's largest hospital-affiliated dental programs, while Fayetteville and Bentonville benefit from Northwest Arkansas's rapid population and commercial growth, which has attracted multi-specialty dental groups and oral surgery centers serving that expanding market.
Are there remote surgical dental assistant jobs in Arkansas?
Yes, but they're rare. Surgical dental assisting is a hands-on, chairside role that requires physical presence in a clinical setting, so most openings are fully on-site. About 0% of surgical dental assistant openings tied to Arkansas are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions typically involve administrative or patient coordination duties rather than direct surgical support.
How can I get hired as a surgical dental assistant in Arkansas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing an accredited dental assisting program at Pulaski Technical College or the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith, then applying directly to oral surgery practices for entry-level chairside or sterilization technician roles. Arkansas Children's Hospital and UAMS dental clinics occasionally hire new graduates for support positions that build surgical exposure. Starting as a general dental assistant at a Heartland Dental or Aspen Dental location in Arkansas and requesting cross-training in oral surgery procedures is another proven lateral move.
Where can I find and apply to surgical dental assistant jobs in Arkansas?
You can find and apply to surgical dental assistant jobs in Arkansas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Arkansas openings updated regularly. Search the listings to find roles that match your credentials and experience level, then apply directly to the ones that fit. No profile creation is required to view openings and submit an application.
