Systems Architect Jobs in Seattle: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a systems architect job in Seattle?
Focus your search on Seattle's cloud and enterprise software sector, where demand for systems architects is highest, particularly in South Lake Union and the Eastside. Employers here prioritize hands-on experience with distributed systems, cloud platforms, and large-scale integration projects. Candidates who can demonstrate ownership of architecture decisions, not just participation in them, stand out in Seattle's competitive hiring pool.
Which companies hire systems architects in Seattle?
Employers hiring systems architects in Seattle right now include Amazon Web Services, Amazon, and NVIDIA, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Seattle's hiring mix includes major technology companies, aerospace and defense contractors, and mid-size software firms, many of which maintain engineering hubs in South Lake Union, Bellevue, and Redmond.
Are there remote systems architect jobs in Seattle?
Yes, though remote availability depends heavily on the role's scope, since systems architects who own hands-on infrastructure or cross-team design reviews are more often required on-site than purely strategic or planning-focused positions. About 25% of systems architect openings tied to Seattle are remote or hybrid as of June 2026. Cloud and software product companies in Seattle tend to offer the most flexibility for remote architecture work.
How can I get a systems architect job in Seattle with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Seattle is moving up from a senior software engineer or infrastructure engineer role within a company that already knows your work. Seattle's large technology employers often promote internally into architecture tracks, and mid-size software and cloud services firms in the Eastside frequently hire associate or staff engineers with clear architecture potential. Building a portfolio of documented design decisions, even from personal or open-source projects, gives Seattle hiring managers something concrete to evaluate.
Which industries hire the most systems architects in Seattle?
Most systems architect openings in Seattle sit in Distribution & Wholesale, Technology & Software, and Retail, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Seattle's concentration of cloud platform companies, aerospace firms with deep systems integration needs, and enterprise software businesses keeps consistent demand for architects who can operate at scale.
