Technical Solutions Architect Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a technical solutions architect in New York?
Most technical solutions architect roles in New York require a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or engineering, followed by several years in a hands-on technical role such as software engineer, systems engineer, or infrastructure analyst. New York does not require a state-issued license for this role. Earning vendor-backed credentials such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Google Professional Cloud Architect strengthens your candidacy, and New York's finance and media sectors specifically value experience with regulated or high-availability systems.
How much do technical solutions architects make in New York?
Technical solutions architects in New York earn a median of about $140,390 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $83,260 for the lowest 10% to over $214,590 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire technical solutions architects in New York?
Employers hiring technical solutions architects in New York right now include Capgemini, Amazon Web Services, and Datadog, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's density of financial institutions, global consulting firms, and enterprise software companies means demand stays consistent across both large corporations and regional professional services practices.
Which New York cities have the most technical solutions architect jobs?
The cities with the most technical solutions architect openings in New York are New York, New York City, and Brooklyn. New York City dominates because of its concentration of major financial institutions, global consulting headquarters, and enterprise technology companies, while Buffalo and Albany generate demand through healthcare systems, state government IT initiatives, and growing regional technology campuses.
Are there remote technical solutions architect jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 36% of technical solutions architect openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting that the role is primarily consultative and design-focused rather than requiring hands-on physical presence. Client-facing discovery sessions and architecture review board meetings are the parts most likely to require occasional in-person attendance, particularly in New York City's financial services sector.
How can I get hired as a technical solutions architect in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a technical role such as software developer, systems administrator, or network engineer, where you can take on architecture-adjacent responsibilities and build a portfolio of solution designs. Large New York employers including IBM, Cognizant, and major financial institutions run associate architect programs and graduate rotational tracks that place candidates without dedicated architecture experience into structured mentorship. Earning a cloud certification before applying, and contributing to open-source or internal design documentation, gives candidates a measurable edge.
Where can I find and apply to technical solutions architect jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to technical solutions architect jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across New York City, Buffalo, Albany, and other locations throughout the state. Find roles that fit your experience and specialization and apply directly to each listing.
