Overview
We are seeking a Data Center Operations Support Technician to provide site-based technical and operational support within high-availability data center environments.
This role focuses on daily operations including monitoring and maintaining critical IT equipment to ensure reliable continuous operation in accordance with relevant performance specifications and service levels. The Data Center Operations Support Technician executes routine tasks without direct supervision and assists with complex tasks when required under the direction of a senior technician.
Routine data center operations support duties include hardware and software installation, configuration, operation, maintenance, monitoring of critical IT infrastructure such as servers, computer networks, computer storage systems, and data cabling.
The Data Center Operations Support Technician uses electronic service management tools to plan, execute, monitor, log, and report.
The ideal candidate will bring fundamental competence across IT hardware installation and maintenance, systems monitoring, and data center operations, with a strong focus on reliability, responsiveness, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide operational and technical support for assigned data center computer systems and peripheral equipment.
- Monitor on-line system performance using software support tools and help ensure scheduled jobs are completed in a timely manner.
- Perform standard maintenance and repair activities.
- Reassign job priorities according to precedent, policy, and procedures.
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond to alerts and system issues.
- Update systems and applications.
- Partner with vendors and component suppliers to replace or repair failed equipment.

Required Skills and Work Experience
- 1–2 years of experience in a data center operations role, infrastructure support role, or a related technical field.
Technical Skills
- Data center infrastructure support (racking and stacking IT equipment, structured data cabling)
- IT hardware maintenance and servicing.
- Basic troubleshooting of hardware, core software, and network issues.
- Environmental monitoring.
- Batch processing and job scheduling support.
- Hardware and peripheral equipment maintenance.
- Fundamental networking concepts (connectivity, switching, routing awareness).

- Adherence to operational procedures and compliance standards.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously.
- Willingness and ability to work on hard surfaces within a climate-controlled environment.
- Participate in on-call rotation.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
Preferred Qualifications, Skills, and Work Experience
- Associate degree or technical certification in IT, computer science, data center operations, or a related field.
- Technical certifications
- CompTIA (A+, Network+, Server+).
- CCNA.
- Structured data cabling.
- Fundamental IT Service Management knowledge.
Work Environment
- This role is site-based.
- This role may be required to travel to other sites.
- 40-hour week (Monday-Friday).
- Required to work outside business hours when necessary to achieve critical service delivery commitments.
- Required to participate in a standby on-call roster.
- Reports to a team leader.
