Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Community Engagement Manager
Align your degree to the posting
TN eligibility depends on your degree field matching the role's core duties. A Community Engagement Manager position framed around social services or public health is easier to support than one titled broadly around communications or marketing.
Target employers with recent visa filings
Nonprofits, hospitals, universities, and municipal government contractors often have experience with visa sponsorship through other work visa programs. These organizations tend to be familiar with employment authorization processes and are generally less likely to withdraw an offer over unfamiliar visa requirements. For TN sponsorship specifically, the process is streamlined—employers simply prepare a support letter, and Canadian applicants can present it directly at the U.S. border, while Mexican applicants apply through a U.S. consulate.
Request the offer letter before the border
Canadian citizens present TN documentation directly at a U.S. port of entry. Arrive with an offer letter that specifies your job title, duties, degree requirement, and employment start date. CBP officers use this to adjudicate on the spot.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers
Search Migrate Mate to identify employers with recent visa filings who hire for community and social services roles. Targeting organizations experienced with visa sponsorship increases the likelihood they'll be open to supporting your TN application at the port of entry or consulate.
Prepare translated credentials if your degree is foreign
If your bachelor's degree was issued by a Mexican or Canadian institution outside anglophone Canada, have it translated and evaluated before your application. CBP and consular officers verify degree equivalency against USMCA's professional category requirements.
Clarify TN renewal expectations with your employer upfront
TN status is granted in three-year increments with no cap on renewals. Confirm before signing that your employer will support renewal filings, since community-focused roles often involve fixed-term program funding that can affect long-term sponsorship continuity.

Find Community Engagement Manager JobsCommunity Engagement Manager TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Community Engagement Manager role qualify for a TN visa?
It depends on how the role is classified. TN visas cover professionals under USMCA-listed categories, and Community Engagement Manager positions qualify most reliably under the Social Worker category when duties center on community outreach, program coordination, or social services delivery and the role requires a relevant bachelor's degree. Roles framed primarily around marketing or public relations face more scrutiny at the port of entry or consulate.
How does TN sponsorship compare to H-1B for this role?
TN is faster and simpler for Community Engagement Manager roles. Canadian citizens can be approved at a U.S. port of entry the same day with no petition required. H-1B involves a lottery, a minimum wait until October 1 of the fiscal year, and significantly more employer paperwork. TN has no annual cap for Canadians and renews in three-year increments without a lottery slot, making it a more predictable path for both you and your employer.
What documents does my employer need to provide for my TN application?
Your employer must provide a support letter on company letterhead that confirms your job title, a description of your duties, the USMCA professional category your role falls under, your anticipated length of employment, and your educational qualifications. The letter should also confirm that your degree is relevant to the position. For Mexican citizens, the employer may also need to support a consular visa application rather than a port-of-entry filing.
Where can I find Community Engagement Manager jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for TN visa job seekers. You can search for Community Engagement Manager roles filtered by employers with recent visa filings, which removes the guesswork of cold-applying to organizations unfamiliar with sponsorship processes. Nonprofits, health systems, and universities tend to be the most active sponsors for community-focused roles.
Can a Mexican citizen get TN sponsorship for this role, and is the process different?
Yes, Mexican citizens can obtain TN status for Community Engagement Manager roles, but the process differs from Canada's. Mexican TN applicants must apply for a TN visa at a U.S. consulate in Mexico, which involves scheduling an interview and waiting for visa issuance before entering the U.S. There is also a separate annual allocation for Mexican TN nationals, though it has not historically been exhausted. Plan for a longer lead time than Canadian applicants.
