- Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer engineering or related (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience developing software (C, C++, Python, or Go)
- 5+ years of experience directly supporting end-customers, partners, or integrators for network equipment and infrastructures
- Experience analyzing, developing, and debugging at least 2 of the following: Linux NIC drivers, switch ASICs and SDKs, embedded network device firmware, Linux based network equipment (routers, switches, gateways, etc), network operating systems
- Expert knowledge of Ethernet and IP routing down to the protocol’s byte level
- Ability to analyze and learn evolving end-to-end systems flow, quickly learn how unfamiliar software layers are integrated, and be able to find logic bugs within an increasingly complex environment
- Passion and motivation to isolate, root cause, and resolve high impact issues with executive visibility
- Professional-level communication skills, including adjusting communication to the technical level of the audience, and staying calm and focused in negative situations.
COMPENSATION
- Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions. The base salary range is 140,000 USD - 224,250 USD for Level 3, and 168,000 USD - 270,250 USD for Level 4.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Senior Solutions Engineer
Align your credentials to the Engineer category
TN classification for this role depends on your degree field, not just your job title. A computer science, electrical engineering, or systems engineering degree maps cleanly. A business or liberal arts degree, even with technical experience, will draw scrutiny at the port of entry.
Target companies with recent visa filing experience
Employers with recent visa filings for Solutions Engineer or Systems Engineer roles already understand sponsorship processes. Their filing history demonstrates experience with work visa sponsorship generally, which suggests familiarity with supporting visa candidates. This background makes them well-positioned to sponsor TN positions, since they've navigated visa requirements before. For TN sponsorship, Canadian applicants can present an employer support letter directly at a U.S. port of entry, while Mexican applicants apply through a U.S. consulate—a streamlined process that experienced sponsors are equipped to facilitate.
Get your offer letter to match TN requirements exactly
Your employer's offer letter must specify your title, duties, TN category, and employment period. Vague descriptions like 'technical consulting' won't hold up. Ask your hiring manager to confirm the letter names the Engineer classification explicitly before you present at the port of entry.
Clarify contractor arrangements before your port of entry visit
Solutions Engineers placed at client sites through a staffing agency create dual-employment questions that CBP officers scrutinize. Confirm whether your employer or the end client controls your day-to-day work, and make sure your support letter reflects the actual employment relationship clearly.
Use Migrate Mate to find employers already sponsoring TN visas
Searching for roles willing to sponsor takes time you don't have after an offer falls through. Migrate Mate filters Senior Solutions Engineer jobs by companies with recent visa filings, so your applications go to employers experienced with visa sponsorship who understand the process.
Prepare for Mexican applicants' consulate timeline early
Mexican citizens cannot apply at the border and must schedule a consulate interview, which adds weeks to your start date. Build at least four to six weeks of lead time into your negotiation so your employer sets a realistic first-day expectation before the offer is signed.

Find Senior Solutions Engineer JobsSenior Solutions Engineer TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Senior Solutions Engineer role qualify for TN visa status?
Yes, if your degree is in engineering or a closely related technical field and your job duties align with that discipline. Solutions Engineers who design, implement, or integrate technical systems fit within the USMCA Engineer category. Roles that are primarily sales or account management, even with a technical overlay, are harder to defend at the border.
How does TN compare to H-1B for Senior Solutions Engineer positions?
TN has no lottery, no annual cap for Canadians, and can be obtained the same day at a port of entry. H-1B requires employer sponsorship months in advance, a lottery with roughly a one-in-four selection chance, and a wait until October 1 to start work. For qualified Canadian and Mexican engineers with a U.S. offer, TN is a faster and more predictable path.
Can my employer sponsor my TN visa if they use a staffing agency model?
It depends on who controls your work. TN requires a legitimate employer-employee relationship. If a staffing agency places you at a client site but the agency is your legal employer and directs your work, the agency is the sponsoring entity. If the end client controls your daily tasks, that arrangement needs to be documented carefully to satisfy CBP.
Where can I find Senior Solutions Engineer jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals seeking TN-eligible roles. It surfaces Senior Solutions Engineer positions from companies that have a history of TN sponsorship, so you can focus your applications on employers who already understand the process rather than spending time educating hiring managers from scratch.
What happens if my TN application is denied at the port of entry?
CBP can deny entry on the spot, and you cannot appeal the decision in the traditional sense. You can reapply with corrected documentation on a subsequent attempt. Common reasons for denial include a degree field mismatch, a vague job description, or missing employer documentation. Having a detailed support letter and your degree transcripts ready reduces that risk significantly.
