Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Corporate Accountant
Confirm your CPA credential meets TN requirements
TN visa classification for Accountants requires a baccalaureate degree or a provincial or national license. A Canadian CPA designation satisfies the license requirement even if your degree is in a non-accounting field, but bring both documents to the port of entry.
Target employers experienced with visa sponsorship
Focus on mid-size and large companies with established international hiring processes. Ask HR directly whether they have experience sponsoring work visas, since employers unfamiliar with TN visa procedures may take longer to prepare the required support letter and documentation for your port-of-entry presentation.
Search corporate accountant roles at visa-sponsoring employers
Migrate Mate filters Corporate Accountant roles by employers with recent visa filings, so you're not guessing which job postings will lead to a real offer. Search by role and location to find opportunities at companies experienced with visa sponsorship who understand the work visa process.
Align your offer letter to TN-qualifying Accountant duties
Your employer's support letter must describe duties that match TN occupational requirements for Accountant roles. Vague titles like 'Finance Associate' create unnecessary CBP scrutiny. Request a letter that specifies general ledger, financial statement preparation, or tax reporting responsibilities.
Prepare a clean credentials package before your interview
Mexican nationals applying at a U.S. consulate need transcripts, degree certificates, and the employer support letter translated and notarized where required. Gaps in documentation are the most common reason consular officers request additional evidence.
Plan your TN renewal timeline around project end dates
TN status is granted in up to three-year increments and can be renewed indefinitely. File the renewal before your current status expires, and coordinate with your employer so the new support letter reflects your current role scope, not your original hire date duties.
Corporate Accountant TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Corporate Accountant role qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
Yes. Accountant is an explicitly listed occupation in the USMCA TN category. Your job duties need to align with the occupational definition, which covers financial reporting, auditing, tax compliance, and management accounting. Roles with vague titles that don't map clearly to these functions can face additional scrutiny at the port of entry or consulate.
How does TN visa sponsorship for Corporate Accountants compare to H-1B?
TN has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadian citizens, and no employer petition filed with USCIS for Canadians crossing at the border. H-1B visa requires entering a randomized lottery with roughly a one-in-four chance of selection. For Canadian CPAs with a qualifying job offer, TN is a faster and more predictable path than H-1B.
Where can I find Corporate Accountant jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It surfaces Corporate Accountant roles from employers already prepared to sponsor TN visas, so you avoid applying to postings where sponsorship is uncertain. You can filter by location and role type to narrow results to positions that fit your qualifications and status.
What documents does my employer need to provide for my TN application?
Your employer must provide a support letter on company letterhead describing your job title, duties, the Accountant TN category, your qualifications, the employment period, and your salary. For Canadians at the border, this letter is the core document. For Mexican nationals, it accompanies the DS-160 and is reviewed at the consulate.
Can a Mexican Corporate Accountant use TN visa sponsorship the same way a Canadian can?
The TN category is the same, but the process differs. Canadian citizens apply directly at a U.S. port of entry and typically receive a decision the same day. Mexican nationals must apply through a U.S. consulate in Mexico, which involves scheduling a visa interview and waiting for a decision. Mexico also has an annual TN allocation, though it has not historically been exhausted.
