Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Cost Accountant
Align your credentials to U.S. standards
CBP officers assess whether your accounting degree maps to the TN specialty occupation definition. A Canadian CPA designation or Mexican Contador Público title strengthens your case, but your degree field must directly support the Cost Accountant role description.
Target manufacturers and distributors first
Cost Accountant roles in manufacturing, distribution, and supply chain are the most structurally dependent on this specialty. These employers run ongoing TN sponsorship needs tied to inventory costing cycles, making them more prepared to support your application.
Search TN-ready employers through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to find Cost Accountant openings at employers with active TN visa sponsorship history. Filtering by sponsorship readiness saves you from roles where the hiring team has no prior experience navigating the TN process.
Confirm employer support letter requirements before accepting
Your employer will need to prepare a support letter documenting your role, qualifications, and TN eligibility before you apply at your U.S. port of entry (or consulate if you're a Mexican national). Confirm the hiring team understands this requirement and has legal support ready, since delays here directly push back your start date.
Request a support letter that mirrors the TN criteria
Your employer's support letter must tie your day-to-day duties specifically to cost analysis, variance reporting, or standard costing rather than general finance tasks. CBP can deny TN status if the described duties read as a broader accountant or analyst role.
Prepare for port-of-entry review as a Mexican national
Mexican nationals applying for TN status at a U.S. port of entry should carry a complete documentation packet, including the job offer letter, degree credentials, and any professional licensure. CBP officers adjudicate TN petitions on the spot, so gaps in your packet create immediate problems.

Find Cost Accountant JobsCost Accountant TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Cost Accountant qualify as a TN visa occupation?
Yes. Cost Accountant falls under the Accountant category in the USMCA TN occupation list. To qualify, you need a bachelor's degree in accounting or a closely related field, and your job duties must center on specialized accounting functions such as cost analysis, variance reporting, or standard costing, not general bookkeeping or broad financial management.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for Cost Accountant roles?
TN has no annual cap and no lottery, so you can apply any time of year and get a decision at the port of entry or through USCIS without waiting for a lottery slot. H-1B selection is random and limited to 85,000 registrations annually. For Canadian and Mexican Cost Accountants, TN is typically faster, cheaper for the employer, and more predictable than H-1B.
Where can I find Cost Accountant jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It filters Cost Accountant openings by TN visa sponsorship readiness, so you're not wasting applications on employers unfamiliar with the process. Most general job boards don't distinguish between employers open to TN sponsorship and those that only hire candidates already authorized to work.
Can my employer deny TN sponsorship after extending a job offer?
Yes, and it happens. Some employers extend offers before their legal or HR team confirms they can support a TN petition. Before accepting, ask directly whether the company has experience sponsoring work visas and whether they have immigration counsel on retainer. An employer unprepared to navigate the TN process—which requires preparing a support letter and understanding TN eligibility requirements—can stall or withdraw sponsorship after you've already resigned a previous position.
What documentation does a Cost Accountant need at a U.S. port of entry for TN admission?
You need a signed employer support letter detailing your job title, duties, and the TN qualification basis, plus your degree transcripts or diploma confirming an accounting credential. Mexican nationals also need a valid passport and may need to schedule an appointment at a U.S. consulate rather than presenting at a land border. CBP officers review all of this on the spot and issue a decision immediately.
