Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Licensing Manager
Align your credentials to U.S. licensing frameworks
TN officers expect your degree to connect directly to the Licensing Manager role. A business, law, or regulatory affairs credential translates well, but you'll need to frame your Canadian or Mexican qualifications against the specific U.S. regulatory context your employer operates in.
Target regulated industries with established TN pipelines
Life sciences, software, financial services, and medical devices have compliance and licensing functions that routinely sponsor TN visas. Employers in these sectors already know the filing process, which shortens the time between offer and your first day.
Confirm the job title appears on the USMCA list
Licensing Manager doesn't map to a single USMCA category. Your employer's attorney or HR team needs to classify it correctly, often under Management Consultant or Scientific Technician. Misclassification at the border is a common reason for TN refusals in this role.
Use Migrate Mate to find employers with active TN sponsorship
Search Migrate Mate to identify companies with recent visa filings who may hire for licensing and regulatory roles. Focusing your applications on employers experienced with visa sponsorship cuts the risk of landing an offer from a company unfamiliar with work visa processes.
Get your employer to issue a detailed support letter early
CBP officers at the port of entry review your employer's support letter on the spot. It must specify your professional capacity, the regulatory or licensing activity involved, and why a TN classification applies. A vague letter is one of the top causes of delays for Licensing Managers.
Understand Mexican nationals face a 5,500-per-year TN cap
If you're a Mexican national, the annual TN allocation is 5,500 slots. Apply early in the fiscal year and ask your employer to file through USCIS rather than at the border, giving you a paper trail if the cap becomes an issue during processing.

Find Licensing Manager JobsLicensing Manager TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Licensing Manager role qualify for a TN visa?
It can, but the classification isn't automatic. Licensing Manager isn't a named USMCA occupation, so your employer must argue the role fits an approved category such as Management Consultant or Scientific Technician. The job duties and your degree need to align clearly with that category. A detailed support letter from your employer explaining the regulatory or licensing function is essential for CBP approval.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for Licensing Manager roles?
The TN has no lottery and no annual cap for Canadians, which means you can start work as soon as you're admitted at the border or your USCIS petition is approved. H-1B requires entering a random lottery in April with a selection rate below 25% in recent years. For Mexican nationals, the TN has a 5,500-slot annual limit, but it still avoids the lottery entirely. TN is generally the faster path for eligible professionals.
What documents does a Licensing Manager need for TN admission?
You'll need a valid Canadian or Mexican passport, your employer's support letter detailing the licensing or regulatory function of your role, and proof of your qualifying degree or credentials. CBP officers review these at the port of entry. Any gap between your degree field and the stated TN category can result in a refusal, so the letter needs to make the connection explicit.
How can I find Licensing Manager jobs with TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals searching for roles with active TN visa sponsorship. Rather than filtering through general job postings, Migrate Mate surfaces employers who have filed TN visas before, which reduces the risk of spending weeks in a process with an employer who's never handled the paperwork.
Can a Licensing Manager switch employers on a TN visa?
Yes, but you need a new TN approval before you start with the new employer. TN status is employer-specific, so your current authorization doesn't transfer. Canadians can present a new support letter at the border for same-day processing. Mexican nationals need to file a new petition with USCIS, which typically takes a few weeks with standard processing.
