Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Principal Solution Architect
Align your credentials to USMCA categories
TN eligibility for this role depends on positioning your work under Computer Systems Analyst, not a generic engineering or management title. Your resume and offer letter must reflect systems analysis and architecture functions, not just leadership or delivery.
Target employers with recent visa filing experience
Employers sponsoring TN visas don't file applications with the government—instead, they prepare a support letter for you to present at your port of entry (for Canadians) or U.S. consulate (for Mexicans). Prioritize companies with recent visa filings for architecture or systems analyst roles, since they already understand visa sponsorship and have internal workflows in place.
Request a detailed offer letter before filing
CBP officers assess TN eligibility at the port of entry based primarily on your offer letter. It must describe your duties in terms of systems design, integration planning, and technical consulting, not project management or general IT oversight, to avoid a denial.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers
Not every company advertising this role will sponsor TN visas. Migrate Mate filters Principal Solution Architect positions by employers with recent visa filings and sponsorship experience, saving you from investing in applications that lead to dead ends.
Prepare a professional credential summary document
For Canadian citizens applying at the border, bring a concise document summarizing your degree, relevant certifications, and how your role maps to the Computer Systems Analyst USMCA category. CBP officers are not immigration attorneys and respond well to clear, structured evidence.
Negotiate TN filing costs into your offer terms
Unlike H-1B, TN visa costs are modest and often negotiable as part of your compensation package. Confirm before signing whether the employer covers government fees and any professional filing assistance, since practices vary widely at this seniority level.

Find Principal Solution Architect JobsPrincipal Solution Architect TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Principal Solution Architect role qualify for a TN visa?
Yes, if the role involves systems analysis, architecture design, and technical consulting at an advanced level, it can qualify under the USMCA Computer Systems Analyst category. The job title itself is not what CBP evaluates. Officers focus on whether the actual duties match the category definition, so your offer letter's language is critical.
How does TN compare to H-1B for Principal Solution Architect positions?
TN has no annual lottery and no cap for Canadian citizens, making it far more predictable for high-level architecture roles. H-1B selection is random and capped at 85,000 annually. TN also processes faster, often same-day at a port of entry for Canadians. The trade-off is that TN does not lead directly to permanent residence the way H-1B can.
Where can I find Principal Solution Architect jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Most job boards don't filter by visa sponsorship type, so you end up applying broadly and discovering late that an employer won't sponsor. Migrate Mate is built specifically for this, letting you search Principal Solution Architect roles by employers with a history of TN and work visa sponsorship so you can focus your effort where it counts.
Can a Mexican citizen get TN sponsorship for this role, and is the process different?
Yes, Mexican citizens are eligible for TN visas for qualifying roles including Computer Systems Analyst. The process differs from Canadian: you must apply at a U.S. consulate in Mexico rather than a port of entry, and there is a numerical limit of 5,500 TN visas annually for Mexican nationals. Processing timelines depend on consulate appointment availability.
What happens to my TN status if I change employers?
TN status is tied to your sponsoring employer. If you change jobs, you need a new TN authorization before starting with the new company. For Canadians, this typically means a port-of-entry application with your new offer letter. You cannot transfer TN status the way H-1B allows portability after 180 days, so timing your transition carefully is essential.
