Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as an User Experience UX
Frame your portfolio around specialty occupation evidence
USCIS adjudicators assess whether your UX role requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Organize your portfolio to show research methodology, information architecture, and systems-level thinking, not just visual outputs, so your work clearly signals specialty occupation standing.
Target employers with dedicated UX research functions
Companies with standalone UX research teams have already written job descriptions that map cleanly to the Computer Systems Analyst category. Roles at companies where UX is embedded inside marketing or communications often generate more scrutiny at the border or consulate.
Confirm your degree field before negotiating your offer
TN approval for UX roles typically requires a degree in computer science, human-computer interaction, information systems, or a closely related field. If your degree is in graphic design or communications, secure a credential evaluation before signing anything.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified TN-sponsoring UX employers
Not every company advertising UX roles has experience with visa sponsorship. Migrate Mate filters for employers with recent visa filings, so you spend your time on roles where the hiring team already understands the sponsorship process and has demonstrated experience supporting work visa candidates.
Ask your employer to prepare the support letter before you travel
For Canadian citizens crossing at a land port or airport, the TN support letter is your primary filing document. Request a draft from your employer at the offer stage so you can review it for accuracy, errors in your job title or degree field are the most common cause of port-of-entry delays.
Mexican professionals should initiate the DS-160 immediately after receiving an offer
TN visas for Mexican nationals require a consular appointment, and wait times at U.S. consulates in Mexico vary widely by location and season. Starting the DS-160 and appointment scheduling the same week you receive your offer letter prevents unnecessary delays to your start date.

Find User Experience UX JobsUser Experience UX TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Do UX roles qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
Yes, UX roles typically qualify under the Computer Systems Analyst category, one of the enumerated USMCA professional occupations. The key requirement is that the position genuinely requires at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as computer science, human-computer interaction, or information systems. Purely creative or visual design roles without a systems or research component can face more scrutiny.
How does TN visa sponsorship for UX jobs compare to H-1B?
TN has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadian citizens, and can be approved at the port of entry the same day for Canadians. H-1B requires a lottery registration in March, a waiting period, and USCIS petition processing. For UX professionals from Canada or Mexico, TN is substantially faster and more predictable, provided your role and credentials meet the Computer Systems Analyst criteria.
Where can I find UX jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It surfaces UX roles at employers with documented TN sponsorship activity, so you're not guessing whether a company will support your visa. Generic job boards list UX roles without any sponsorship filtering, which wastes time on applications that stall at the HR stage once immigration comes up.
Can my employer sponsor a TN visa if they've never done it before?
Yes. TN sponsorship doesn't require advance government filings or certification. Your employer prepares a support letter confirming your job title, duties, degree requirement, and compensation. For Canadians, you'll present this letter at the U.S. border or port of entry. For Mexicans, you'll submit it as part of your consulate application. First-time sponsors benefit from working with an immigration attorney to ensure the documentation package is complete and thorough before you apply or travel.
What happens to my TN status if I'm laid off from a UX role?
TN status is employer-specific, so a layoff ends your authorization to work in that status. There's no formal grace period codified in TN regulations the way there is for H-1B holders, though CBP has discretion. You'd need a new job offer and a new TN approval, Canadian citizens can re-apply at the border, while Mexican nationals would need a new consular appointment.
