TN Visa Print Designer Jobs
Print Designer roles qualify for TN visa sponsorship under the USMCA's graphic designer category, which requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in a design-related field. Canadian citizens can present their TN application directly at the U.S. port of entry; Mexican citizens apply through a U.S. consulate. Your employer provides a support letter to accompany your application—no government filing or prevailing wage determination is required.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Print Designer
Verify your degree matches the category
TN classification for print designers falls under graphic designer, requiring a bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communications, or a closely related field. A degree in fine arts without a design focus can draw scrutiny at the port of entry.
Target employers with recent visa filing experience
Employers with recent visa filings already understand the sponsorship process and timelines for work visas. Targeting those employers reduces delays caused by unfamiliarity with visa procedures during your negotiation.
Get your support letter specifying design duties
Your employer's TN support letter must describe print design duties specifically: production files, prepress, typography, or print specifications. Generic titles like 'designer' without print-specific language can create problems at the Canadian port of entry or a Mexican consulate.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers
Search Migrate Mate to identify print design roles at employers already experienced with TN visa sponsorship. Filtering by TN-eligible roles saves time you'd otherwise spend screening out employers unfamiliar with the process.
Verify employer support letter requirements before accepting
Your employer must prepare a support letter confirming your TN eligibility and job details before you enter the U.S. to begin work. Confirm with HR that the support letter is ready prior to your port-of-entry appointment (Canadians) or Mexican consular interview (Mexicans), not after.
Prepare a portfolio that documents specialty occupation
CBP officers reviewing TN petitions at the border sometimes request evidence that the role requires a degree. A printed or digital portfolio showing complex, degree-level print design work strengthens your case if an officer questions the specialty occupation requirement.

Find Print Designer JobsPrint Designer TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Print Designer role qualify for TN visa status?
Yes, print design roles qualify under the TN graphic designer category when the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communications, or a related field. The job offer letter must describe duties tied to print production, prepress, or visual design rather than general marketing or administrative work. Roles where any unrelated degree satisfies the requirement will not qualify.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for Print Designers?
TN sponsorship is significantly more straightforward for print designers than H-1B. There is no annual lottery, no cap for Canadians, and no multi-month USCIS adjudication wait. Canadian citizens can receive TN status at the port of entry the same day. H-1B requires an April registration, a lottery selection, and then a full petition process. For most print designers with USMCA citizenship, TN is the faster and more reliable path.
What documents does a Canadian Print Designer need at the border?
You need a valid Canadian passport, a detailed employer support letter describing your print design duties and confirming you hold a qualifying degree, and your original degree certificate or transcripts. CBP officers at the port of entry make the final TN determination, so having a portfolio documenting degree-level design work is a useful backup if the officer asks questions.
How can I find Print Designer jobs with TN visa sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search specifically for print design roles at employers with recent visa filings and experience sponsoring work visas. Most general job postings do not indicate whether an employer will sponsor TN status, so filtering to employers experienced with visa sponsorship is the most efficient approach. Reaching out early in the interview process to confirm the employer can provide the required support letter also saves significant time.
Can a Mexican citizen get TN sponsorship as a Print Designer?
Yes, but the process differs from the Canadian path. Mexican TN applicants must apply for a TN visa at a U.S. consulate in Mexico rather than at the port of entry. The employer prepares a support letter detailing your role, qualifications, and how you meet TN requirements. Mexico does not have a TN cap for most professional categories including graphic design, but consular appointment availability affects your actual start date, so build that lead time into your offer negotiation.
