Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Fashion
Match your credentials to qualifying Fashion categories
TN Fashion roles must align with recognized professional categories. A degree in fashion design, textile science, or merchandising management strengthens your case. Roles framed around general styling or sales often don't qualify, so confirm the classification before applying.
Request a detailed support letter from employers
Your employer's support letter must specify your professional title, duties, Canadian or Mexican citizenship, and intended TN category. Vague letters are the leading reason for border denials. Ask for this document before you give notice at your current job.
Target brands with active cross-border hiring history
Fashion houses with design studios, sourcing offices, or wholesale operations in both the U.S. and Canada or Mexico are familiar with TN sponsorship. Seek out companies whose job postings mention USMCA or treaty-national eligibility to reduce education cycles with HR.
Search for Fashion TN sponsorship jobs on Migrate Mate
Filter by TN-eligible Fashion roles on Migrate Mate to find employers who have sponsored international professionals before. The platform surfaces active job postings where TN sponsorship is a stated option, cutting time spent on unqualified leads.
Prepare for port-of-entry review as a Canadian
Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. land border or airport without a visa stamp. Bring your employer letter, degree transcripts, and any portfolio credentials. CBP officers assess qualification on the spot, so organize your documents in the order they'll ask for them.
Understand Mexico's TN cap before your offer closes
Mexican nationals are subject to an annual TN allocation, unlike Canadians who have no cap. If you're a Mexican professional negotiating a start date, confirm the current fiscal year's availability with your employer's immigration counsel before finalizing your timeline.

Find Fashion JobsFashion TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Fashion role actually qualify for TN visa status?
Fashion roles can qualify, but the job title and duties must map to a recognized TN professional category such as fashion designer or textile engineer. General retail, visual merchandising coordination, or styling work without a degree requirement typically doesn't meet the specialty threshold. Your employer's job description needs to clearly reflect professional-level responsibilities tied to a specific field of study.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for Fashion professionals?
The TN visa has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadians, and can be approved at a U.S. port of entry the same day, which makes it far more predictable than the H-1B for most Fashion professionals. H-1B requires USCIS to select you in a random lottery before the petition is even reviewed, which introduces a year or more of uncertainty. For Canadian and Mexican Fashion professionals with qualifying roles, TN is almost always the faster and lower-risk path.
Where can I find Fashion employers who sponsor TN visas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically to surface job postings where TN visa sponsorship is available for Canadian and Mexican professionals. Searching there lets you focus on Fashion roles where the employer is already familiar with the TN process, rather than spending time educating HR teams at companies that have never filed one.
Can I switch Fashion employers while on TN status?
Yes, but your TN status is tied to your current employer. When you accept a new Fashion role, your new employer must sponsor a fresh TN petition before your first day. Canadians can do this at a port of entry with the new employer's documentation. There is no grace period built into the TN that lets you remain authorized between jobs, so timing the transition carefully is essential.
What documents does a Fashion professional need to bring to the border for TN approval?
You'll need a signed employer support letter detailing your Fashion role, title, duties, and TN visa category, along with proof of your Canadian or Mexican citizenship, your degree or professional credentials in a qualifying field, and any relevant portfolio documentation if your employer included reference to specialized work. CBP reviews all of this at the port of entry, so organizing everything in a clear folder reduces processing time significantly.
