Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Proposal Manager
Frame your title around USMCA categories
TN approval depends on your job title matching a listed USMCA category. Proposal Manager isn't explicitly named, so your offer letter must frame the role under Management Consultant with duties that center on analysis and advisory work, not project execution.
Build a duties letter that wins at the border
CBP officers, not USCIS, adjudicate Canadian TN applications at ports of entry. Your employer's support letter needs to describe your day-to-day Proposal Manager duties in consulting-specific language: client needs assessment, solution design, and strategic recommendations.
Target federal contractors and defense firms
Federal contractors produce the highest volume of formal proposals and rely on dedicated Proposal Managers year-round. These employers understand sponsorship logistics and are accustomed to supporting TN professionals because the visa aligns with their consulting-heavy workflows.
Search verified sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Proposal Manager openings by employers with recent visa filings. That shortlist removes the guesswork of cold-applying to companies without demonstrated experience sponsoring work visas in consulting-adjacent roles.
Get your credential equivalency documented early
TN requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant field. If your Canadian or Mexican degree title differs from U.S. norms, request a credential evaluation letter from your institution that maps your qualification to a U.S. bachelor's before you reach the border or consulate.
Clarify renewal expectations before accepting an offer
TN status is granted in up to three-year increments with unlimited renewals, but each renewal requires a new employer letter confirming the consulting duties still apply. Confirm your employer is prepared to issue updated support letters at each renewal cycle before you sign.

Find Proposal Manager JobsProposal Manager TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Proposal Manager role qualify for a TN visa?
Yes, but not under a Proposal Manager job title alone. The TN visa's Management Consultant category covers the role when your duties center on analyzing client requirements, developing solutions, and providing advisory recommendations. The offer letter must emphasize those consulting functions. Roles where proposal writing is purely administrative or clerical are less likely to qualify.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for Proposal Manager roles?
TN has no lottery, no annual cap for Canadians, and can be obtained at a port of entry the same day for Canadian citizens. H-1B requires a March lottery, a six-month wait, and USCIS adjudication. For Proposal Managers, TN is generally faster and more predictable, provided your duties fit the Management Consultant category description clearly.
What documents does my employer need to prepare for my TN application?
Your employer must provide a detailed support letter on company letterhead that states your job title, describes your specific Proposal Manager duties in consulting terms, confirms you hold a relevant bachelor's degree, specifies your start date, and confirms the position is temporary in nature. CBP officers assess Canadian applicants on the strength of this letter at the border.
Where can I find Proposal Manager jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically to surface jobs with verified TN visa sponsorship history, so you can filter Proposal Manager roles by employers who have actually sponsored TN workers rather than guessing from a general job listing. That targeting significantly reduces wasted applications to employers unfamiliar with the TN process.
Can Mexican citizens get TN status for Proposal Manager roles the same way Canadians can?
No. Mexican TN applicants must apply at a U.S. consulate in Mexico and attend an interview, unlike Canadian citizens who can be approved at a port of entry. Processing times vary by consulate and appointment availability. The qualifying criteria and required documentation are the same, but the application route and timeline are different.
