Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Senior Solution Architect
Map your duties to Computer Systems Analyst
TN approval hinges on your job description matching the Computer Systems Analyst category. Work with your prospective employer to ensure the offer letter emphasizes systems analysis, architecture design, and integration planning rather than generic software development or project management.
Prepare a degree equivalency letter early
CBP officers at the port of entry decide Canadian approvals on the spot. If your bachelor's degree is in a field adjacent to computer science, secure a credential evaluation from a recognized evaluator before your first employer interview so delays don't kill an offer.
Target employers with active USMCA hiring experience
Employers unfamiliar with TN visas sometimes confuse them with H-1B and stall on sponsorship. Filter your search to companies that have documented TN or USMCA hiring experience. Migrate Mate surfaces employers actively sponsoring TN roles so you're not educating HR from scratch.
Negotiate the job description before the offer letter
Once an offer letter is issued, revising it to fix a TN-incompatible job title or duties description creates delays and signals indecision to the employer. Align the wording before the letter is drafted, not after.
Understand the Mexican consular appointment timeline
Mexican nationals must schedule a consular interview, which adds weeks or months depending on the consulate's backlog. Factor this into your start date negotiation with the employer and request the support letter from your prospective employer before scheduling your appointment.
Carry a complete TN packet to the port of entry
Canadian professionals are admitted at the border, so a missing document means a same-day refusal. Your packet should include the signed offer letter, your degree certificate, and evidence of relevant work history connecting your background to the solution architect duties in the letter.

Find Senior Solution Architect JobsSenior Solution Architect TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Senior Solution Architect role qualify for a TN visa?
Yes, provided the role fits within the Computer Systems Analyst category defined under USMCA. The job description must center on analyzing, designing, and integrating complex systems rather than hands-on coding or general project delivery. CBP officers evaluate your offer letter against that category on a case-by-case basis, so precise wording in the letter matters significantly.
How does TN compare to H-1B for Senior Solution Architect positions?
TN has no annual cap and no lottery for Canadians, meaning you can get authorized as soon as you have a qualifying offer. H-1B selection is lottery-based, limiting access to one registration window per year. TN is also faster to obtain since Canadian nationals are processed at the port of entry. The tradeoff is that TN does not confer dual intent, so long-term permanent residence planning requires a parallel strategy.
How do I find employers actively sponsoring TN visas for this role?
Most job postings don't advertise TN sponsorship explicitly, which makes it difficult to filter for willing employers. Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search, letting you find Senior Solution Architect openings at companies with documented TN and USMCA hiring experience so you can focus your applications where sponsorship is already understood.
What documents do I need for a TN application as a solution architect?
You need a detailed offer letter specifying your title, duties, expected length of employment, and your Canadian or Mexican citizenship. You'll also need your degree certificate and transcripts, and evidence of relevant professional experience if your degree field is not directly in computer science or a closely related discipline. CBP may also request an organizational chart showing where your role sits.
Can I switch employers while on a TN visa as a Senior Solution Architect?
Yes, but TN status is employer-specific. You cannot start working for a new employer using your current TN approval. Canadians can apply at the port of entry with the new offer letter before leaving the prior employer. Mexican nationals need a new consular appointment. Coordinating the timing between your last day and your new TN approval is the part most professionals underestimate.
