Transporter Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a transporter in Texas?
Most transporter positions in Texas require a high school diploma or equivalent recognized by the Texas Education Agency, along with a current CPR certification. For roles that involve driving patients or medical equipment between facilities, a valid Texas driver's license is required. Non-emergency medical transport operators in Texas must register with the Texas Department of State Health Services, which sets vehicle and personnel standards for that specific segment of the field.
Which companies hire transporters in Texas?
Employers hiring transporters in Texas right now include Stevens Transport, HDR, and 7-Eleven, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's dense concentration of large integrated health systems means many of these employers operate multiple campuses across the state, creating openings in several markets simultaneously.
Which Texas cities have the most transporter jobs?
Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio have the most transporter openings in Texas. Houston leads because of the Texas Medical Center, one of the largest medical complexes in the world, while Dallas and San Antonio support high volumes through their own major health systems and growing populations that drive consistent demand for patient and equipment transport across hospital networks and outpatient facilities.
Are there remote transporter jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Transporter work is almost entirely hands-on and requires physical presence to move patients, specimens, or equipment within a facility or between locations. About 7% of transporter openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those roles are typically limited to dispatch coordination or scheduling functions rather than direct transport duties.
How can I get hired as a transporter in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to patient transporter or orderly roles at large Texas hospital systems, which routinely hire candidates without prior healthcare experience and provide on-the-job training. Baylor Scott & White Health, HCA Houston Healthcare, and UT Southwestern Medical Center all post entry-level transporter positions open to candidates with only a high school diploma and CPR certification. Moving laterally from a housekeeping, food service, or patient sitter role within the same facility is another common way to step into transport, and obtaining a Texas driver's license gives candidates an edge for any role involving off-site transport.
Where can I find and apply to transporter jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to transporter jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across the state's major hiring markets. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level, preferred city, and specialty, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
